Vivant acquires 200-MW Northern Samar wind park
Vivant Corp. has boosted its portfolio anew with the takeover of a 200-megawatt (MW) wind park in Samar.
The Cebu-based conglomerate’s power generation arm, Vivant Energy Corp., acquired a 100-percent stake in Samar Philippines Renewable Corp. (SPRC) from Envision Energy Philippines Corp.
The transaction value was not disclosed.
SPRC leads the construction of the wind park, straddling the towns of Lavezares, Allen, Victoria, Rosario and Catarman in Northern Samar.
The asset, with a capacity enough to energize over 190,000 households, is eyed for completion as well as grid integration by the end of 2028.
“The acquisition marks another significant step in Vivant’s renewable energy growth as it moves closer to its 30 by 30 goal of increasing renewable energy capacity,” Vivant said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Wind belongs in places where the resource is strong, strategic and efficient. In Northern Samar, Vivant Energy sees an opportunity to add greener capacity where it can support a more resilient energy portfolio and contribute to the country’s long-term energy stability,” it added.
Last May, Vivant CEO Arlo Sarmiento said the group had allotted P67 billion to finance several power and water projects through 2030.
The greater portion—or P60 billion—of the capital expenditures would finance the rollout of more energy projects.
As of end-2025, the group’s capacity was at 471 MW.
About 10 to 15 projects are targeted for the energy sector, with capacities ranging from 30 MW to 300 MW, according to Emil Andre Garcia, Vivant Energy president and CEO.
