Liquid fertilizer supplier Xanadu Agri Products Inc. (XAPI) is teaming up with Univet Nutrition and Animal Healthcare Co. Inc. (Unahco), the agriculture arm of pharmaceutical firm United Laboratories Inc., to expand its market presence in the Philippines.

In an informal gathering on Wednesday, XAPI said this latest tie-up with Unahco would help it expand its market presence in the Philippines by introducing its products to other parts of the country.

“We support the advocacy of [XAPI chair and president Wellington Soong] of helping the farmers improve the harvest,” Unahco assistant vice president Clint Escondo said.

Unahco offers animal feeds and veterinary medicines, and distributes animal nutrition and healthcare products. Recently, it ventured into the distribution of crop protection products.

On the other hand, XAPI exclusively imports Xanadu Maxpower Liquid Fertilizers made in Thailand.

The company said these liquid fertilizers can increase the quality, quantity and weight of crops while keeping pests or diseases at bay.

XAPI said testing Xanadu Maxpower on various crops across multiple farmlands and regions yielded better results.

It noted that for instance, an area in Sultan Kudarat posted a yield increase of 186.8 percent after using Xanadu Manpower liquid fertilizer. The yield per hectare increased to 6.73 metric tons per hectare from 2.35 MT per hectare earlier.

As of present, XAPI is present in 36 provinces and 13 regions as of September this year. It mainly focuses on rice and corn being the two most important crops in the country but recently expanded to other crops including sugarcane.
