Bryan Chong remakes Himig winner
Former “Idol Philippines” Season 2 contestant Bryan Chong delivers a relatable story of falling for someone with mixed signals in his remake of Himig 11’s best song winner “Marupok.”
The song, first performed by KZ Tandingan, captures the definition of popular Gen Z term for allowing oneself to be vulnerable to their loved one despite their confusing actions.
It was composed by Danielle Balagtas for Himig Handog, while the reimagined version was produced by StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos, highlighting the energetic beats that elevate Bryan’s powerful vocals and making it a danceable anthem of love.
In 2017, Bryan auditioned for the first season of “The Voice Teens Philippines,” where he captivated the judges with his performance of “Kahit Kailan” and became one of the artists under Sarah Geronimo’s team. He then also joined “Idol PH” and was declared fourth runner-up in the singing competition in 2022.
As a recording artist, Bryan has released several singles such as “Mag-iisa,” “Di Pa Ba Sapat” and “Cut Into Pieces.” He was also nominated for Male Acoustic Artist of the Year and New Male Recording Artist of the Year at the 12th PMPC Star Awards for Music.
