‘Coraline’ to be shown exclusively at Robinsons Movieworld
Fifteen years after it first premiered, the animated film “Coraline,” directed by Henry Selick and based on Neil Gaiman’s novella, returns to theaters in a newly remastered 3D format. Filipinos can catch it for a limited engagement at Robinsons Movieworld from Sept. 18 to 30.
The movie follows a young girl (voiced by Dakota Fanning) who discovers a secret door in her new home that leads to an alternate and sinister version of her life. Its intricate plot delves into themes of self-discovery, the complexities of familial relationships, as well as the allure and danger of escapism.
The film grossed $16.85 million on its 2009 opening weekend in the United States where it ranked third at the box office. During the rerelease last month, the movie made $12.5 million in four days, ranking fifth at the box office in the US.
In the Philippines, it will be screened at Robinsons Movieworld branches from Sept. 18 to 30, as well as at Nustar Premier Cinemas and Opus Premier Cinemas.
