Eraserheads docu ‘Combo on the Run’ to unveil trailer at San Diego Comic-Con
“Combo on the Run,” an upcoming documentary on the iconic Filipino rock band Eraserheads, is set to unveil its trailer at the renowned San Diego Comic-Con on July 26 (Saturday, July 27, Philippine time) at the San Diego Convention Center in California, United States.
The film started production in 2022 amid preparation work for the band’s “Huling El Bimbo” reunion concert. It delves on how an “unlikely group of disbanded punks provided healing” toward the end of a politically divisive year—all while trying to “grapple with it for themselves.”
Written and directed by Maria Diane Ventura, “Combo on the Run” is her first feature since her internationally acclaimed 2021 movie, “Deine Farbe” (best German feature, Berlin Festival; best director, International Film Festival Manhattan).
The Eraserheads—composed of Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro—will also be featured in an exclusive San Diego Comic-Con issue of “The Lumpia Squad” series, a popular Filipino-American indie comic.
Ely said he was excited to attend the annual comic book and multigenre entertainment event, which is said to be “the largest of its kind in the world.”
He will also grace a panel dedicated to the “Lumpia” universe alongside its creator Patricio Ginesla and comic artist-writer Whilce Portacio (“Iron Man,” “The Punisher,” “The Uncanny X-Men”). The Eraserheads frontman will then hold an exclusive autograph-signing session the following day.
“Combo on the Run” is coproduced by Ely and Voyage Studios and presented by DVent Pictures and WEU Events. After its world premiere, the trailer will be made available on the DVEnt and the Eraserheads’ official YouTube channels.
