Hitmakers, Apo revisit OPM classics in concert

Avatar

Songs by the Philippines’ Hitmakers and Apo hold a special place in the hearts of many Filipinos. Their music takes listeners back to some of the most cherished moments in life—celebrations, heartbreaks and everything in between. Newport World Resorts brings two of the most iconic groups in OPM history for the two-night concert “The Hit Society” on July 12 and 13 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

Hajji Alejandro, Marco Sison, Rey Valera and Nonoy Zuñiga, the talented crooners known collectively as the Hitmakers, will share the stage with Jim Paredes and Boboy Garovillo, two of Apo’s legendary members. The one-of-a-kind event will feature chart-topping hits that are hot-wired into the souls of Filipino listeners for decades and have helped shape the landscape of OPM today.

The Hitmakers became icons for their love songs including Alejandro’s “Nakakapagtataka,” Sison’s “Make Believe,” Valera’s “Maging Sino Ka Man” and Zuñiga’s “Never Ever Say Goodbye.” These crooners brought back the gentleness, honesty and emotion that make perfect love songs.

Meanwhile, Apo’s songs have been the thread connecting generations, weaving their way into the hearts of music lovers by way of songs like “Panalangin,” “Awit ng Barkada” and “Batang-Bata Ka Pa.”
