Thai pop artist Cupnoodle channels feelings of infatuation into modern romance anthem

Avatar

Thai independent singer-songwriter Cupnoodle has released her new single “Bababababy,” an infectious anthem inspired by modern romance and dedicated to listeners who find themselves in a precarious situation of having a crush and not knowing what to do about it.

“On the surface, this song is about infatuation and attraction towards someone you’ve just met. The repeated line ‘bababababy’ plays on the stuttering and nervous experience of trying to start a conversation with this new crush,” said Cupnoodle about her new song.

“Dig deeper into the song and you find that it is actually about a desire to break out of one’s comfort zone. Despite your uncertainties of approaching a person, you should just muster up your courage and shoot your shot. Only under pressure can we rise to the occasion.”In this upbeat single, “Bababababy” introduces funky guitar riffs and disco-inspired beats that convey a relatable sense of urgency and longing for another person.

Through this song, Cupnoodle hopes that her listeners can feel and experience the journey from uncertainty to empowerment, and an inspiration to step out of their comfort zone.

Constant learning

“A value I live by and implement in my singing and music is to strive for constant learning and self-implemented challenges,” she said. “To this day, I still continue to take singing, drum and guitar lessons, and I will keep on doing so because I believe that life is all about learning and getting better at what you do. And while being able to do what you love is a privilege, it should also be fun! So I wrote ‘Bababababy’ as a high energy, cheeky and funky track as a reflection of these thoughts.”
