The 18th Palihang Rogelio Sicat (PRS) welcomes 16 writing fellows chosen from more than one hundred applicants and who will have the chance to hone their writing skills under the guidance of the PRS panel of senior writers.

Sen. Loren Legarda is the guest of honor. Bibeth Orteza will deliver the keynote address. The writing workshop will be held on May 21 to May 25 in Pandan, Anini-y, Antique.

“More than 30 young writers passed the screening process but we can only accommodate 15 individuals,” said Jimmuel Naval, one of the PRS founders and dean of the College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. “But for this year, we added one more slot and named two local fellows to accommodate deserving writers.”

The fellows are: (short story) Anne Joyce Raymundo, Ramil Reyes, Brian Uy, and Froilan Pariñas; (essay) Jameson Cruz, and Rommel Dizo; (poetry) Christopher Rosales, Jerald Aman, Terence Talagon, Ronel Osias, and Jed Nykolle Harme; (dagli) John Frederic Bugayong, Elaine Borromeo, and Shur Mangilaya; and (play) Chris Joseph Junio, and Jeffrey Ranoy. The fellows hail from different regions of the country.

The local fellows are Rosemarie Dalisay and Lovely Torres. PRS 18 will work with Hut-on Akeanon, a writer’s group in Panay, in this iteration of the workshop.
