21st Goldenberg Concert Series rings in the brass holidays

On Dec. 5, the Goldenberg Mansion hosted the 21st edition of the Goldenberg Concert Series, ushering in the holiday season with an evening of Christmas music, culture, and tradition. The concert showcased performances by trumpeters Frank Liwag and Arman Miranda, French horn player Rominick Reyes, trombonist Alejandro Fernandez, and tuba player Jonnel Angeles.

Arrangements of well-known Christmas pieces filled the evening, including Filipino classics “Pasko Na Sinta Ko” and “Ang Pasko Ay Sumapit” alongside international selections such as “Frosty the Snowman,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Showcasing Filipino talent

Each musician brought professional experience from academic and orchestral institutions in the Philippines. Liwag is a trumpet performance student at the University of the Philippines College of Music and a member of the UP Symphonic Band. Miranda serves as principal trumpeter of the Quezon City Tourism Affairs Office and has performed with major community and professional orchestras.

Reyes, a graduate of the UP College of Music, has worked with leading orchestras and contributed to film soundtracks and commercial recordings. Fernandez is assistant principal trombonist of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and has represented the Philippines in international ensembles. Angeles, a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, continues to perform with professional bands in Manila, maintaining an active presence in the local music scene.
