A Japanese-inspired Mother’s Day celebration at Mitsukoshi BGC

Avatar

Taking mom out may be a surefire way to make her feel special on Mother’s Day, but it can be much more. Why not surprise her with something unexpected and unforgettable?

Here’s an idea: let her experience the springtime sakura (cherry blossom) in full bloom. Though this year’s cherry blossom season has already ended in Japan, it’s still possible even in this tropical country, specifically in the heart of Bonifacio Global City, right at MITSUKOSHI BGC.

‘Sakura Saku’

The Japanese spring celebration “Sakura Saku,” which literally means “the cherry blossoms are blooming,” has been ongoing at MITSUKOSHI BGC since April 4 and will run until May 31.

Enjoy the simulated version of hanami, or the Japanese tradition of gathering together to admire fully bloomed cherry blossoms, made possible with the presence of an elegant cherry blossom tree installation. After taking in the view, continue the celebration with a delightful family meal at standout restaurants like El Born, Prologue, Key Coffee Kissaten, and Sen-Ryo—perfect for making Mother’s Day even more special.

Whether your visit to MITSUKOSHI BGC is for Mother’s Day or not, you and your companions can also enjoy “Sakura Saku” by snapping photos and savoring artisanal Japanese treats. But from May 9 to May 11, MITSUKOSHI BGC becomes even more festive with “MOM’s the Day!”—a series of heartfelt surprises to make moms feel celebrated and pampered. On May 11, guests who present a minimum P2,000 receipt from any dining restaurant can receive a free portrait of their mom from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers who spend at least P1,500 during the three-day celebration can also enjoy complimentary gift-wrapping services on the ground floor.

To cap off the weekend, a special serenade dubbed “Hymn for MOM” will take place on May 11, with musical performances and tokens of appreciation for attending moms from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Guests can also explore the Mom’s Day Off Pop-Up at B1 Level, where the first 50 customers at MITSUKOSHI Fresh and MITSUKOSHI Beauty will receive special gifts on May 11. MITSUKOSHI Beauty at GF Level will also offer exclusive perks like discounts and freebies from Philips Haircare, plus limited-time features such as the Dyson Airstrait and the luxurious LOA The Oil.

As the country’s first and only Japanese mall, MITSUKOSHI BGC is a curated haven of premium retail, authentic dining, and everyday essentials. Its wide range of offerings, from Japanese skincare brands to ramen shops and sushi counters makes every visit feel like a quick escape to Japan.

Don’t be surprised if your mom turns out to be among those who want to experience such a lifestyle every day, especially after finding out that home can be an elevator ride away.
