A life built on vision and heart: Exequiel Robles celebrates a glorious 70th birthday

Under the shimmering lights of the Grand Ballroom at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila, family, friends, and longtime colleagues gathered on April 6, to celebrate not just a milestone, but a legacy—marking the 70th birthday of Sta. Lucia Land president Exequiel “Excy” Robles. Known to many as “101” for his boundless energy and unwavering determination, Robles was moved to tears as he walked into a grand surprise celebration lovingly orchestrated by his wife Diding, their children, and the entire Robles family.

Robles’ journey is one that has inspired generations—rising from humble beginnings to become one of the country’s most respected real estate developers. As the driving force behind Sta. Lucia Land, he has spent over four decades transforming empty lots into vibrant communities, building more than just homes, but dreams for countless Filipino families. His vision has reshaped landscapes across the nation—empowering thousands through progress, livelihood, and accessible property ownership.
But beyond the concrete and steel, Excy Robles built something even greater—a family and community anchored in love, humility, and perseverance.

The birthday celebration captured just that. With an Art Deco theme in silver, gold, and blue, the evening radiated warmth and elegance. The night was hosted with grace by Lia Guerrero Santos and opened with a heartfelt prayer from granddaughter Ellie Robles De Castro. The room was filled with emotion as a special video tribute played—featuring greetings from team members and friends who have witnessed Robles’ tireless commitment and generous spirit.
Music and memories danced hand in hand throughout the evening. Jacob Robles, his eldest grandchild, performed a touching OPM medley on piano. His other grandchildren—Karlie, Ellie, Kaitlin, Erin, Pierre, Peyton, Enzo, and Javi—delighted the crowd with an energetic dance number and a sweet rendition of “Just the Way You Are.” It was a moment that reflected the joy and love they’ve grown up with, thanks to the legacy of their Lolo Excy.

One of the night’s most touching moments came when Diding, his partner in life and love, serenaded him with “Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko,” her voice filled with emotion and pride. The Robles siblings and their families added to the surprise with their own musical tribute, filling the room with laughter and nostalgia.
Robles’ children, alongside their spouses and kids—Paolo and Michelle, Joanna and Ralph, Jayson and Kit, and Michael—gave a moving musical performance of “How Sweet It Is” while a video montage of their most cherished memories with their father played in the background. It was a tribute to a man who, despite his many achievements, always made time to be present—as a father, a mentor, and a quiet source of strength.

As a surprise, Gigi De Lana—one of Mr. Robles’ favorite performers—along with her band Gigi Vibes, brought the house to life with soulful covers of timeless classics. The night ended on a joyful note with a toast led by his eldest son Michael and a heartwarming ballroom dance performed by his closest friends—symbolizing a life well-loved and a legacy that will keep dancing forward.
The night’s magic was made possible by an outstanding team: creative direction by Rene Labrador and Christina Avendano, styling by Flourish and Frills, music by Marcy David Orchestra, stunning attire by Michael Leyva, and heartfelt AVPs from Creative Flair Advertising.
As guests departed, one thing was clear—this was more than a birthday. It was a beautiful reflection of a man whose life has been marked by vision, passion, and an enduring love for family, country, and community.
