A weekend retreat for women writers

Pauline Miranda

From one woman writer to another, I have to say, nothing sounds quite as appealing right now as a relaxing weekend immersed in nature, while being able to learn from some of the country’s best women writers.

An upcoming workshop provides just that perfectly conducive environment. The Women Writing Getaway Retreat is a three-day, two-night weekend retreat open to writers of fiction, nonfiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and memoirs—either in English or Filipino.

Ten women, aged at least 21 years old by Aug. 21, 2026, will be chosen based on the merit and promise of their submitted manuscript.

About the retreat

Set to take place from Aug. 21 to 23, the weekend writing retreat will be held at Casa RSR in Tagaytay, overlooking clear views of Taal Lake.

The workshop and weekend retreat gives its participants the opportunity to receive feedback on their work in a supportive and compassionate environment, both from mentors Marjorie Evasco and Grace Monte de Ramos as well as from their cohort members.

Evasco has been a mentor at the Women Writing annual workshops since its inception in 2022. She is a university fellow and professor emeritus (literature) of De La Salle University – Manila, and has received awards for her poetry and contribution to literature.

Joining her this year is poet Monte de Ramos, whose expertise extends to teaching, cultural work, editing, and translating. Like Evasco, she has served as panelist in workshops at Silliman and Iyas.

Selected writers will have to pay the workshop fee of P15,000, which includes tuition, handouts, accommodations for two nights, and meals.

Applications will be accepted until April 5. For more information, follow Women Writing on Facebook and Instagram (@womenwritingph). Submit your works through https://bit.ly/WWTagaytay
