Australia and Philippines’ shared vision

At her final Australia Day event last January at the Grand Hyatt Manila, Ambassador HK Yu welcomed over 1,000 guests, marking the largest celebration to date.

The event highlighted the flourishing Australia-Philippines relationship, which has been grounded in a shared vision for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region and achieved remarkable milestones over the past two and a half years.

Yu emphasized the strength of this partnership amidst global challenges, including conflicts from Sudan to Myanmar, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and tensions in the South China Sea.

Despite these issues, both nations remain committed to upholding international law, fostering cooperation, and addressing threats like climate change and displacement.

Looking ahead, the envoy expressed optimism as the Philippines prepares to chair Asean, and the two countries approach 80 years of diplomatic ties.

Concluding with gratitude, she acknowledged the inspiring partnerships and support received during her tenure, reaffirming the enduring commitment to a shared regional vision.
