Chopard celebrates International Day of Happiness

Avatar

United Nations established March 20th as the International Day of Happiness. Celebrated globally, it is the most basic human emotion that transcends cultures, language, generations and social barriers. Happiness can be found in all walks of life.

Chopard is calling for a global chain of happiness. From Paris to Tokyo via London, New York, Milan, the Maison’s boutiques will be adorned with armfuls of roses; Roses are the inspiration for the latest Happy Sport Rose de Caroline timepiece; a creation so precious, that the timepiece is adorned with pink sapphires, rubies and the legendary dancing diamonds – Chopard’s enduring signature that symbolizes Joie de Vivre. As a means to contribute to a fairer and happier world, the Maison will contribute part of the proceeds from the sale of Happy Diamonds Collection Jewelry between the period of March 20th to the 26th, to child protection associations.

Since the invention of Happy Diamonds, Chopard’s workshops have always ascribed a pacifying virtue to dancing diamonds, the smile induced by the dance of free-spinning diamonds, eliciting all other emotions. Chopard is in the forefront of a campaign for everyone to form a veritable chain of happiness; a butterfly effect by means of which a smile, or a gesture towards other, perhaps even to oneself – is multiplied, worldwide.

A new timepiece that conveys the optimistic spirit of this special day; through the Happy Sport Rose de Caroline, Chopard’s Co-President Caroline Scheufele recalls an anecdote from her time as Artistic Director; her then workshop manager made a wager on the future of the Happy Sport Watch. The bet was for a single rose for every watch sold; which then ended up as an entire rosebush that was presented to Caroline Scheufele – to which she was able to admire in bloom for years to come, truly a symbol of creative success.

Caroline Scheufele has primarily chosen the Rose to symbolize Chopard’s commitment to promoting and celebrating the International Day of Happiness. On the 20th of March, the Maison will be adorned with an array of roses; from its boutiques to its workshops, the scent of roses will permeate the air and Joie de Vivre activating the chain of happiness that Chopard is calling for. The shape of the petal reminds us of the contours of a heart – another powerful symbol of this family Maison, that has always shared some of its success with the most deprived.

For years now, Chopard has been taking part in charitable programs, focused on the field of child protection like Petra Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Fund, since renamed All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response. The latter supports the reconstruction of schools devastated by natural disasters, starting a virtuous cycle of enabling future generations to have a better future. The Maison is likewise involved with the Naked Heart Foundation which helps underprivileged children, this foundation was launched in 2004 by Natalia Vodianova.

The Day of Happiness rekindles the desire to dream of a fairer world; and this is the reason why Chopard will supplement its support for these two foundations with an additional donation from the sales made in its boutiques on all its Happy Diamonds collection.
