FEU holds ‘Ang Tangi Kong Ikaw’ concert
The Far Eastern University (FEU) Center for the Arts (FCA) and Far Eastern University Bamboo Band (FBB) presents a special concert titled “Ang Tangi Kong Ikaw,” to be held today at 6 p.m. at the FEU Auditorium.
In commemoration of the 96th anniversary of FEU and the 75th year of the FEU Auditorium, the FBB returns for a free concert featuring some of the most renowned kundiman or Philippine art songs from the past decades.
Last year, the band presented their rendition of famous songs by the renowned British band The Beatles, in a concert titled “Let It BEatles!”
This year, they will showcase their interpretation of several kundiman under the supervision of their artistic director, Norberto Cads Jr., an artist with extensive knowledge of bamboo music who has participated in various international expositions and festivals together with Banda Kawayan Pilipinas.
Members of the FBB from various institutes of the university have come together to prepare the musical pieces for this concert. They have been rehearsing for at least 12 hours a week, throughout the year.
The selected student members are all nonmusic majors. They are students in Nursing, Psychology, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Tourism, Communication, Architecture, Marketing, Business and Accountancy programs.
The FBB will also be joined on stage by Jhon Mark Isla, one of the FCA’s pillars and an alumnus of the FEU Drum and Bugle Corps, and Koowie Relevo, assistant artistic director of the FEU Drum and Bugle Corps. INQ
