He made you laugh, now he’s helping you save lives

If you’ve heard the line “What hafen, Vella?” and immediately cracked a smile, you already know the power of Cristopher Diwata, the Taylor Lautner lookalike who stole hearts (and laughs) on “It’s Showtime’s” Kalokalike.
Now, Diwata is back. But this time, he’s not just out to entertain; he’s out to save lives.
In a bold new campaign with The Medical City (TMC), Diwata uses his trademark humor to shine a spotlight on a serious issue: the critical need for blood donation in the Philippines. With his signature lines—like “Vamfire will feyt to me! Blood! We need more blood here! I trusted to donate blood‚ but you did not!”—the campaign grabs attention, but more importantly, it delivers a powerful message: Blood donation doesn’t have to be scary, boring, or forgotten.
“Sometimes, the best way to reach people is to make them laugh first, then inspire them to act,” says Joshua C. Dizon, head of communications at The Medical City. “Cristopher Diwata does exactly that.”
The Philippines requires around 100 million units of blood annually to treat patients recovering from surgery, undergoing cancer treatment, or facing emergencies. By pairing pop culture with public service, TMC hopes to encourage more Filipinos—especially the younger generation—to take part in regular blood donation.
