Legacy and diplomacy: Celebrating Monaco National Day

In November 2024, the diplomatic and consular corps of Monaco from around the globe gathered in the principality to celebrate the National Day of Monaco, also known as the Day of the Prince. This annual occasion honors the enduring legacy of the Grimaldi family, whose reign has shaped the identity and heritage of Monaco since 1297.

Representing the Philippines was Fortune Aleta-Ledesma, Consul General of The Principality of Monaco, who had the privilege of reconnecting with Prince Albert II of Monaco during a cocktail reception at the prestigious Yacht Club de Monaco. Dressed in a terno specially curated by Kultura, she proudly showcased the artistry and cultural heritage of the Philippines on the international stage.

Joining her was her son, Monaco Consul Rene Aleta Ledesma, Jr., as they participated in a series of grand events presided over by Prince Albert II and other members of the Grimaldi family. The celebrations included a solemn Mass and Te Deum at the iconic Cathedral of Monaco, a vibrant military parade at the Place du Palais, and an exclusive gala performance of Puccini’s “La Bohème” at the Grimaldi Forum, attended by Monaco’s elite and international dignitaries.
