Music strengthens Singapore-PH ties

The Embassy of Singapore in Manila marked International Women’s Month with “Strings & Keys: A Singapore-Philippines Serenade” on March 6 at the Singapore Embassy.

The concert, featuring Singaporean pianist Dr. Ning Hui See and 12-year-old Filipino harpist Vien Ignacio, was more than a celebration of music. It was a testament to the deep cultural ties between Singapore and the Philippines.

Singapore Ambassador Constance See highlighted how music fosters connections that go beyond borders, reinforcing the friendship between the two nations.

Beyond showcasing exceptional talent, the event reflected Singapore’s commitment to cultural diplomacy.
Dr. See, an internationally acclaimed pianist, shared her personal connection to the Philippines, emphasizing how music can strengthen relationships between nations.

Ignacio, who was born and raised in Singapore, also expressed her deep bond with the country, making her performance especially meaningful. Their collaboration symbolized the lasting friendship between Singapore and the Philippines, built on shared experiences and artistic exchanges.

The Singapore Embassy further extended this cultural bridge by inviting young Filipino musicians from various orchestras to experience the event. Ambassador See encouraged them to embrace music as a way to connect with others and celebrate diversity.

The evening ended with a duet of “Home,” a song cherished in Singapore, symbolizing the warmth and unity between the two nations.
