My tatay forced me to read newspapers growing up, so it felt like a chore at first. In the province, our Inquirer was delivered in a pedicab daily by a trusted guy named Camel. He delivered our newspaper for years.
I eventually enjoyed reading the Inquirer and particularly looked forward to Sundays because of the Super section, and the Sunday Inquirer also included a free magazine.
My favorite writers were Conrado De Quiros and Pam Pastor. I also looked forward to Youngblood. Who would’ve thought Pam would text me as a customer one day to order from my small business? Days later, she wrote about my pavlova, and my tatay was the proudest to open his Philippine Daily Inquirer with his daughter in it! And that’s my favorite Inquirer story!
