Over a hundred fashion innovators recently had their runway debut at Sinulid 2024 at the Podium Hall.
Sinulid 2024 presented distinct visions, design possibilities and creative processes. Exploring the concept “Beyond Boundaries,” the annual showcase exhibited the talents, skills and craftsmanship of the graduating Fashion Design and Merchandising (FDM) students of the De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) School of Environment and Design (SED).The showcased clothes ranged from ready-to-wear garments to couture pieces.
“Continuum (Timeless Flair)” presented sophisticated and ethereal looks that elevated classic silhouettes, whereas “Pulse (In the Moment)” introduced fresh and bold takes on current trends.
“Frontier (Cutting Edge)” exhibited experimental textiles, material exploration and design techniques, while “Boundless (Fusion of Eras)” wrapped up the show with a unique blend of the quintessential and the contemporary, which bridged the gap between the past, present and future. The display channeled the young designers’ advocacy to break expectations and address prejudices on being a designer in the 21st century.
Fashion designer and Benilde FDM chair Ionica Abrahan Lim acknowledged the hard work and dedication of each student.
Lim, a homegrown talent of the program herself, told the students, “Showing up today to have your creations walk down the runway took a lot of courage, and bringing this much art into the world is pure talent.”
The event closed with the recognition of the 10 outstanding collections: “Sa Amoa—Garbo sa Gitago” by Joshua Mario Daryll Chiong, “Marahuyo” by Kristina Marie Mariano, “Bida” by Karl Lanz Andrei Valera, “Hunyango” by Kristine Mae Tayo, “Unveiling the Mask” by Denise Adrianne De Leon, “Visions of Fantasy” by Ma.
