OPM takes over the metro this New Year’s Eve

Allan Policarpio

As 2025 draws to a close, Metro Manila will turn into a city-wide stage for some of the country’s biggest OPM artists. There’s Sarah Geronimo, SB19, Ely Buendia, Cup of Joe, and Lea Salonga, to name a few. Throw in some rising international acts, and you have the perfect New Year’s Eve playlist.

So if your idea of counting down to 2026 isn’t dodging smoke and the earsplitting clap of firecrackers, it’s not too late to plan your escape. Whether you’re craving head-bobbing bass drops or perhaps a dinner set to soaring ballads, here’s where OPM is coming in full force on Dec. 31.

“NYE at the 5th”

Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

From 7 p.m. onwards, 5th Avenue will play host to a free street party top-billed by P-pop kings SB19—fresh off their world tour—together with OPM icons Parokya ni Edgar and Apl.de.ap as well as hitmakers KZ Tandingan, TJ Monterde, Dionela, Jay-R, DJ Mars Miranda, and G22.

Heightening the experience are immersive visuals, LED satellite screens, and choreographed light displays throughout the district. The revelry concludes with BGC’s traditional dual-zone fireworks, giving everyone a clear view as the sky lights up

“Makati in Full Color”

Ayala Avenue, Makati City

This iconic thoroughfare will come alive with a free public celebration that packs the road with revelers, not cars. Starting at 6 p.m., the “Proudly Pinoy”-themed event features Ely Buendia, Cup of Joe, Morissette, Juan Karlos, Sofronio Vasquez, the Divine Divas, and Theatre Group Asia’s “A Chorus Line.”

The event features light displays, a visually striking stage, and a Filipino-style ball drop. At midnight, fireworks illuminate the skyline. For those seeking comfort, VIP tickets offer lounge access, buffet dinner, and prime viewing. The party continues after midnight with DJ Cupcakes, followed by an after-party at Ayala Triangle Gardens with The Studio Dance Club.

“Step Right Up to 2026”

Okada Manila, Parañaque City

For a mix of iconic OPM hits and high-octane nightlife, this is the place to be. Starting at 8 p.m. at Cove Manila, the concert party features OPM legend Gary Valenciano as well as performances by Yeng Constantino, Randy Santiago, DJ Pretty Dragon, and DJ Tom Taus.

After the concert, the celebration continues with an indoor beach club party. Fireworks are visible across the resort from The Fountain, The Garden, and The Coral Lounge. This ticketed event is exclusive to guests 18 and above.

“The Grand Countdown to 2026”

Newport World Resorts, Pasay City

For a more luxurious evening, dress to impress and head to the Marriott Grand Ballroom at Newport World Resorts. Starting at 7 p.m., the ticketed gala features a theater-style acoustic concert with performances by Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo. The evening also doubles as Jessica Sanchez’s homecoming after winning “America’s Got Talent” Season 20 earlier this year. The evening is hosted by Billy Crawford.

Guests can enjoy a buffet dinner while watching a show comfortably, ideal for families and fans who prefer a more intimate way to ring in the new year. The night also features performances by Matteo Guidicelli, Cup of Joe, Amiel Sol, Janine Teñoso, GAT, and Raya.

“New Year Countdown to 2026”

Eastwood City, Quezon City

Heading toward the north, Eastwood City welcomes 2026 with a free New Year’s countdown at Eastwood Mall Open Park—headlined by Rico Blanco, Klarisse De Guzman, and Maki. P-pop group Kaia and Filipino Japanese artist Ena Mori will also join the festivities.

“Symphony of the Stars” / “A Night of Icons”

Solaire Resort, Parañaque City and Solaire North, Quezon City

For those seeking acoustic perfection and black-tie sophistication, Solaire Resort offers two premium galas. In Parañaque, “Symphony of the Stars” features Broadway legend Lea Salonga and OPM icon Raymond Lauchengco, accompanied by the Filharmonika Orchestra under the baton of Gerard Salonga.

In Quezon City, Sharon Cuneta, Martin Nievera, and Rachelle Ann Go share the stage for “A Night of Icons,” under the musical direction of Louie Ocampo and Marvin Querido. Both ticketed events include world-class performances, a lavish buffet, and free-flowing beverages.

“Kapuso Countdown to 2026”

SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City

Lastly, for fans who want to be part of a massive televised spectacle, this countdown by GMA Network starts at Seaside Boulevard at 6 p.m. with a free on-ground warm-up show. The main event starts at 8:30 p.m., headlined by rising K-pop group AHOF and Kapuso stars Julie Anne San Jose, Christian Bautista, Rayver Cruz, Rocco Nacino, and Kyline Alcantara.

The celebration also features performers from “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre,” “Pinoy Big Brother,” and “Stars on the Floor,” followed by a grand fireworks display over Manila Bay. The countdown will be livestreamed on GMA Network and online platforms.

Remember to plan ahead

Just a quick reminder: If you’re heading to any of these celebrations, expect road closures on Ayala Avenue, 5th Avenue, and other traffic hotspots like Eastwood. The ongoing EDSA rehabilitation also means bottlenecks near Guadalupe Bridge and Magallanes-Pasay, so if you’re heading south, plan your route accordingly.
