Original dance works go onstage this December
A dance showcase titled “Canvas: BPAD in Motion” spotlights the original works of renowned and award-winning Filipino choreographers on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14.
The 90-minute mixed-bill repertoire features a range of innovative compositions in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and street by iconic Filipino dancer Tony Fabella, veteran danseur Luther Perez, and Ballet Philippines (BP) soloist Gia Geguinto.
The extensive production includes imaginative pieces by Nina Anonas, BP principal and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Dance Program chairperson; Mycs Villoso, De La Salle University Manila Dance Company artistic director; Regine Tinoy, JJZA Media production Aasociate; and Christine Crame, dance mentor and former BP principal dancer.
The show is headlined by the young talents from the Dance Program of Benilde School of Arts, Culture, and Performance as a response to an artist’s proverbial blank canvas.
Guided by the arrangements of the acclaimed professionals, the students will personalize the performance spaces to redefine movements in relation to society. Each number is an invitation to see the world through their lenses, as they explore inquiries and curiosities, as well as translate emotions and conversations usually hidden behind a dancer’s psyche.
The lineup likewise comprises of established works from the creatives of Benilde Experimental Dance, and movement and composition studies by senior student-choreographers.
Shows will be at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., at the fifth floor theater of the Design + Arts Campus, 950 Pablo Ocampo St. Malate, Manila.
Tickets are priced at P450. Discounts are available for the community: P400 for Benildeans and P350 for Benilde Senior High and Benilde Deaf School students.
