Our favorite snacks for every snacking mood

Staying up late for an all-nighter? Beginning a 10-hour anime binge on the sofa? Hungry, but not enough to warrant a full meal? Whatever the time, the circumstance, your diet, or lifestyle may be, there’s always room and time for a snack.

From local classics to Asian sweet treats, these snacks (which you can find almost at any grocery near you) are essential for the in-between-meals bite.

Chips

Nagaraya Cracker Nuts (garlic)

Encased in a crunchy, tasty outer shell, Nagaraya is the perfect way to enjoy your typical peanuts. Nagaraya also has several flavor options, such as hot & spicy, adobo, and our favorite, garlic.

Takis (Fuego)

A “gnarly” mix of hot chili and lime, this Takis variant adds a subtle Mexican twist to spicy chips—putting some zing to the heat.

Chicharon ni Mang Juan (sukang paombong)

Healthy isn’t a word we’d use to describe grocery chips, but Chicharon ni Mang Juan is a plant-based snack made out of dehydrated peas and potatoes. And with their sukang paombong flavor, it’s a pretty close approximation to the typical chicharon-dipped-in-vinegar combination.

Biscuits and crackers

Buttercream Crackers (ube)

Make no mistake, these thin, brittle crackers pack a flavorful, sugary punch. And from leche flan and original butter to ube and macaroon flavors, there’s no getting sick of them.

Bread Stix (original)

Bread Stix are an enigma. They’re utterly plain and simple, but their buttery flavor will have you coming back one handful at a time.

Hello Panda (all of them)

Lightly sweet and incredibly addictive, there’s a reason you haven’t heard of a bad Hello Panda flavor.

Noodles

Pancit Canton (chilimansi)

Need we explain? Whatever the combination or recipe, whether you’re going for a basic prep or a viral hack, Pancit Canton will forever be a classic Filipino snack (or meal, even).

Our go-to recipe? Two packs of Pancit Canton (chilimansi flavor), mixed with a tablespoon of Kewpie mayo, half a can of your favorite Century Tuna flavor—topped with a fried egg.

Indomie Mi Goreng (original)

See Also

Yes, we just talked about how timeless Pancit Canton is. But if you find yourself needing a little break from it, Indomie Mi Goreng is a great alternative that is just as good, familiar, but different enough.

Koka Laksa Singapura

Nothing sounds quite like a bowl of hot soup on a rainy day, and this easy-to-prepare laksa closely approximates the Singaporean classic with its rich and spicy coconut curry broth.

Candies

Hi-Chew

Feeling sleepy on an all-nighter? Pop a piece of Hi-Chew in your mouth and find yourself wide awake just from the endless chewing. It’s in the name after all.

Warheads Extreme Sour

But if you’re really looking for something to wake you up, one Warheads Extreme Sour will jolt you into alertness with its mouth-numbing sourness. But this candy isn’t just all sour. After a minute or so of the initial kick, you will ease into a sweet flavor to make up for the sour torture you just endured.

Big Chewy Nerds

Packed with orange, lemon, strawberry, and grape flavors, these chewy candies encased in a crunchy shell give you a new way of enjoying your typical Nerds.
