Putting health on top

Diane Nicole Go

Time, money, or health. The way we rank these three says a lot about our priorities. In today’s fast-paced world, many of us put money first, taking advantage of our prime to push our limits and chase productivity, all in the name of financial stability. The cost? Our health is pushed further down the list—and we end up paying the price.

When health takes a backseat (and this happens more often than you think), minor issues can quickly balloon into major health problems. Everyday discomforts can turn into chronic conditions. Mild symptoms can escalate into serious illnesses. Overlooking them can lead to lasting consequences. And by then, it’s often too late.

But TopHealth is here to change that by reminding you to put your health on top, and to be on top of your own health.

The first touchpoint of care

Helmed by managing director Daniel Obradó, TopHealth prides itself on being a “patient-centered medical organization” that focuses on providing the primary level of care—the first line of defense in health maintenance.

“In developed healthcare systems, care can be accessed through primary, secondary, and tertiary levels,” Obradó explains. “Hospitals provide secondary and tertiary levels of care, equipped to manage the most complex, difficult, and sometimes urgent cases. But TopHealth medical clinics focus on the primary level, which includes the most common, repetitive, and less complex cases.”

This ensures that the first touchpoint is seamless, efficient, and stress-free—because for TopHealth, healthcare is about putting people first, while making preventive care accessible to all.

But who is the man leading the charge? Originally from Spain, Obradó studied business administration and earned a master’s degree in international business. From there, his career trajectory shifted—first in finance, where he managed renewable energy projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia; then, 10 years ago, to an international healthcare group in Spain, which then brought him to the Philippines in 2019.

Obradó wanted nothing more than to help people, and being in the healthcare industry allowed him to do so.

“Since then, I have led TopHealth, a journey that has deepened my understanding of the Philippine healthcare landscape,” he says proudly. “I love working in healthcare because you can see the direct impact on people. Dedicating my career to helping and improving people’s access to healthcare and wellness services is very rewarding. I am very excited about the future and hope TopHealth will touch many lives.”

Inside TopHealth Makati

From Manila to Makati

Annual checkups, routine tests, and advanced health screenings make up the backbone of most clinics here in the Philippines and around the world. And while TopHealth does all that, it also diversifies its portfolio to cater to more than that.

Having set base in SM City San Lazaro since 2009, TopHealth has remained committed to its thrust to “offer a high standard of medical care and the convenience of a one-stop outpatient clinic that provides doctor consultations, diagnostics, and treatment, focusing on the patient experience with quality and affordable prices.” This includes accepting HMO cards and welcoming walk-in patients, while providing “tailor-made packages to companies without HMO health benefits for their employees, but still want to offer them health prevention beyond the annual physical exams (APE).”

With this mindset, TopHealth opened its Makati branch in late February this 2026—conveniently located at the corner of Makati Avenue and Jupiter Street, right in the bustling business district. And just like its Manila branch, its newer counterpart boasts the same portfolio.

“Our clinic is a one-stop facility offering laboratory, imaging, diagnostics, and treatments to address immediate health concerns in the same place,” Obradó explains. “We offer primary care and specialist consultation, laboratory tests, x-rays, heart center, and ultrasound. We do all types of medical check-ups, including executive check-ups, APE, and pre-employment medical examinations (PEME). We even offer teleconsult, home service, and onsite services.”

Holistic healthcare and primary care made possible

But more than that, TopHealth Makati brings in something new to the table—or well, city: facilities for physical therapy, along with a new dermatological center.

“The new dermatological center covers both the pathological side of dermatology and aesthetic procedures,” Obradó explains. “The goal of our Derma Center is to help you achieve your best skin, guided by the expertise of dermatology medical doctors and utilizing the best technology. We offer a wide range of services, including CO2 fractional laser treatments, High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), skin boosters, Botox, and fillers.”

And understanding that skincare is also an important part of overall wellness, TopHealth Makati even offers services like hair removal, tattoo removal, and Korean facial treatments.

What’s more, by addressing healthcare at its root, TopHealth Makati is “open to anyone seeking medical attention, whether for acute or preventive cases,” as they are equipped to do basic medical treatments like stitches for lacerations, casts for fractures, and even minor surgeries. Doing so lets them provide primary care at its core, with immediate access to a doctor, sans the long queues or exposure to more serious cases, which commonly happen in a hospital emergency room—and for a fraction of the price, too.

Ultimately, staying true to its goal of making healthcare accessible to everyone, TopHealth puts its patients at the center of everything it does. “We honor our motto: ‘At TopHealth, your health is our top priority,’” the managing director says.

Putting the “care” in healthcare

Having the facilities, the technology, the expertise, and the determination to help is one thing, but changing the Filipino mindset that health can wait is a hurdle that Obradó and the team at TopHealth seek to change.

Echoing the saying that prevention is better than cure, the managing director stresses that our health starts with ourselves. “It is important to educate Filipinos on healthcare so they can make informed decisions about their health,” he emphasizes. “Getting medical check-ups even without any current health issues is important because it allows for the early treatment of potential diseases.”

More than that, he believes that maintaining a balanced lifestyle—proper diet, exercise, rest, and mental health—plays an important role in prevention.

Complementing a prevention mindset and healthy lifestyle choices is the rise of technology. Lauding advancements in the sector, Obradó notes that healthcare has progressed in leaps and bounds, with personalization becoming integral to holistic care today. “Nowadays, our phones—combined with wearables—can produce a vast amount of medical information that can really help us in disease prevention and quality of life,” Obradó says, adding that while some may turn to artificial intelligence (AI) for medical concerns, it’s still best to consult a doctor.

“Health is a serious issue, and we need to keep trusting our doctors, who have been properly trained to do so, to help us with their expertise, experience, and responsibility,” he continues. “I would not recommend using the AI as a doctor, first, because of the high risks of misdiagnosis and lack of responsibility, and second, because we need to be aware of the privacy of our information.”

Even in this changing landscape, the human side, and the very foundation of TopHealth, remains—that is, the people behind the care. The “human” aspect that makes the dedication and care come to life.

“Filipinos have an innate gift for caring for each other, which is why Filipino medical professionals are recognized worldwide for that quality and their excellent technical training,” Obradó says. “And people are trusting us with the most precious thing in life: their health and the health of their loved ones here.”

Obradó goes back to TopHealth’s ethos—the North Star that started it all. “We approach this responsibility with the importance and dedication it deserves, striving for the highest standard of care and continuously improving how we deliver our services so our patients are happy and healthy.”

With TopHealth, healthcare isn’t just about treatment—it’s about prevention, accessibility, and personalized care. For Obradó and his team, what matters most is providing a patient-centered experience, making it easier for every Filipino to put their health on top.
