Scout OST vol. 11: Back-to-back P-pop bangers
This has been a good year so far for OPM, and P-pop, in particular, is getting its much-deserved time in the spotlight, too. Several award-giving bodies have included and recognized artists in this rising genre, and just this November, we’ve even seen P-pop leaders SB19 and BINI sweep awards at the 38th Awit Awards and 10th P-pop Music Awards.
It’s also the perfect time to celebrate these wins, as several P-pop groups recently dropped fresh releases in November. For Scout OST vol. 11, we take a look at the songs and albums that are marking the P-pop Rise movement today.
“Destino” by Alamat
This is the long-awaited album by the six-piece group Alamat. It features the lead track “LuzViMinda,” a truly representative hit that rings true to Alamat’s identity as a group that champions and showcases the rich cultural tapestry of the Philippines. Each member, coming from different regions of the country, represents their roots by singing in their own language.
Other standouts from the album include “Hapag” and “Sinigang.”

“FLAMES” by BINI
The Nation’s Girl Group is bookending their busy year with a seven-track album that includes earlier released songs “Shagidi” and “First Luv.” This new album is a return to the sweet pop tunes that shot BINI to fame, but has a dash of subdued maturity that reflects the growth of the girl group.
The songs, in a mix of Filipino and English, reflect relatable themes like friendship, self-discovery, and confidence, and of course, love.

“The Dissection of Eve” by G22
Recognized at the 10th P-pop Music Awards as the Rising Girl Group of the Year, G22 just released their debut album called “The Dissection of Eve.” As the title suggests, it breaks down and looks into the many sides of the female alpha, featuring empowering anthems, soulful ballads, and more vulnerable tracks.
The trio also co-wrote songs on the album.

“Baduy” by VVINK and DJ Love (feat. Pio Balbuena)
An ode to budots, “Baduy” is an electronic dance track that embraces and unapologetically celebrates uniquely Filipino street party culture. VVINK worked with budots originator DJ Love on the track. “‘Wag ka uy-uy-uy, hindi ‘to baduy-uy-uy” sounds just about right because honestly, we lowkey can’t help vibing to this.
“Chicka-chick-a” and “lyk that” by YGIG
The double release marks YGIG’s return to the P-pop scene after a year. The group showcases their rebrand through their sound, with “Chicka-chick-a” leaning into hip-hop, and “lyk that” being a more R&B track. Both songs carry a Y2K vibe, reflecting the group’s new visual identity, too.
“Pahinga” by HORI7ON and “Tara Sayaw” by KAIA
South Korea-based Filipino boy group HORI7ON and five-piece girl group KAIA lend their vocals to the official soundtrack of Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Rekonek.”
HORI7ON’s “Pahinga” is a mellow track that speaks of reassurance and that feeling of calm and comfort one finds in a person. Meanwhile, KAIA ups the energy with the upbeat track “Tara Sayaw.”
“Gusto Mo Ba” by 1st.One (feat. jikamarie)
If you’re the type to let music speak on your behalf, this is the ask-out song. 1st.One sings on this sultry, inviting collaboration with jikamarie: “Gusto mo ba saking sumama? …Tayong dalawa lamang hanggang umaga”—no words are more direct and accurate to send to crush than those.

“Burn The Flame” by SB19
SB19’s busy streak continues! Mobile MOBA game “Honor of Kings” tapped the P-pop Kings to sing “Burn the Flame,” the official anthem of the game’s King Pro League International Championships. The song debuted at 9th on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart.
