Strengthened ties between Romania and PH
On Nov. 27, the Embassy of Romania hosted a National Day reception at the Fairmont Makati, gathering high-level representatives from the Philippine government, diplomatic corps, business sector, academe, civil society, and the Romanian community.
The event was graced by Ambassador Răduța Dana Matache, who was joined on stage by key figures including Foreign Undersecretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro and Archbishop Charles Brown, Apostolic Nuncio.
Matache delivered a speech emphasizing the strengthened ties between Romania and the Philippines, particularly noting significant milestones in 2024.
These included the reopening of the Philippine Embassy in Bucharest, the accreditation of Noel Servigon as the Philippine ambassador to Romania, and Romania’s support for a rules-based international order.
She also expressed gratitude for the support received from Filipino partners in advancing political, economic, and cultural diplomacy.
The event continued with musical performances by talented students from the Sisters of Mary School-Adlas Boys’ Chorale and Romanian soprano Janina Lorelei.
Guests were treated to a banquet featuring Romanian and Filipino dishes, alongside a curated photo exhibit showcasing Romania’s scenic beauty.
The evening culminated in a raffle draw, with prizes such as Romanian wines, traditional Romanian blouses, and gifts from various sponsors. This festive gathering not only celebrated Romania’s National Day but also underscored the growing diplomatic and cultural bonds between Romania and the Philippines.
