The beauty of getting it right

Jacqueline Dizon

Most products don’t surprise me anymore. They perform exactly how I expect them to. So when something makes me want to poke it, test it, carry it everywhere, or regret missing an entire event because of it, I take that seriously.

Vice Cosmetics’ Aura Mochimo was one of those.

My first thought was not elegant. This is Play-Doh for makeup lovers. I wanted to press my thumb straight into it until I hit the pan. That soft. That satisfying. I had to stop myself because I did not want to waste a good product.

The textures are the point. The Soft Bouncy Blush, Brontour, and Highlighter sit in a space that feels engineered. Not quite cream, not quite powder. They press into the skin, then diffuse. Color spreads without harsh edges, but it does not disappear. I kept reaching for Mauve Cloud. It reads balanced on my skin. It does not lean too pink or too brown. It pulls everything together without looking like a separate layer.

What impressed me more was the wear. The pigment stays where you place it. It does not break apart halfway through the day. It holds its shape while still looking blended. That balance is difficult to get right. It also travels well. The compacts are small, secure, and easy to throw into a bag. I have been reaching for it without thinking. It has quietly become part of how I get ready.

I also had the chance to meet their team, which always matters to me. They were engaged, detail-focused, and clearly invested in how the product performs outside a controlled setting. That mindset shows up in the final result. This is everyday makeup, but considered.

Pulled by peaches

Momo Puri pulled me in for a different reason. I kept seeing it everywhere while traveling. Beauty stores in Vietnam. Shelves in South Korea. People picking it up without hesitation. That kind of consistency across markets usually means something works.

But I was curious. Why peach?

Momo Puri Moist Cleansing Wash

The line uses peach ceramide water, which supports the skin barrier. Ceramides are lipids naturally present in the skin. They help retain moisture and protect against environmental stress. When those levels drop, skin becomes more prone to dryness and irritation. Peach extract contributes antioxidants and natural sugars that help maintain hydration and improve surface texture. Together, they support both moisture retention and skin stability.

Momo Puri Moist Barrier Lotion

The Cleansing Wash removes without stripping. The Moist Barrier Lotion delivers hydration that absorbs properly. The Moist Barrier Cream seals everything in so it lasts. I brought it to the beach, where my skin usually starts to react. Sun exposure, salt, and heat tend to show up quickly. Instead of drying out or becoming uneven, my skin stayed balanced. Simply put, this kept my skin from freaking out.

Picnics at the park

Sunnies operates on a different level. It builds beyond product. It creates environments people want to be part of.

I was supposed to attend the Sunnies Picnic, and missing it was a full 10 out of 10 frustration. Their team has always been strong at execution. You can feel how much they care in the way they build things. It is not surface level.

From what they shared, Ayala Triangle Gardens was transformed into an open, walkable space designed for people to move through freely. It did not follow the structure of a typical launch. It felt closer to a day out. A Picnic Market brought together Sunnies Studios, Sunnies Face, and Sunnies Flask in one space. Eyewear, beauty, hydration, and everyday essentials sat side by side, making the experience feel cohesive rather than segmented.

Sunnies Picnic

A dedicated Picnic Shop featured outdoor pieces designed for actual use. Picnic mats, large totes, mesh bags, travel carriers. Things that elevate the experience once you step outside.

The entire space was layered with activity. DJ sets running from afternoon into evening. Game booths and interactive installations across the grounds. Food from different vendors. Coffee, drinks, ice cream. Even pet-friendly areas. It was built to keep people there, not just bring them in.

Even though I missed it, the package they sent carried that same intention. A pair of Sunnies Studios frames came in a padded puffy sac, which I find genuinely charming. It protects without feeling bulky. I wear their sunglasses everywhere. Trips, errands, anything. They shift how I look with very little effort. They also included a Sunnies Flask, a Sunnies Face Lip Elixir, and a giant tote. All practical. All designed to be used, not stored. I have not explored their makeup as much yet, but it made me want to.

That is what stood out across all of this.

Not noise. Not excess. Not trying to convince you.

Just things that hold up. Makeup that stays. Skincare that keeps your skin steady. Experiences that feel thought through.

That is the beauty of getting it right.
