The feminine, fluid, otherworldly in debut fashion collections
Thirty-four style innovators explore the depths of their dreams and the subconscious in “Sinulid,” the annual culminating event that showcases the knowledge, craftsmanship, and skills of the graduating Fashion Design and Merchandising students of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
Entitled “Threaded Experience,” the collections find beauty in the unconventional as they present a thought-provoking celebration of creativity and individuality deeply rooted in the personal journeys of the young artists.
With over a hundred looks, this batch promises a striking balance between symbolism and transformation in various ensembles, from ready-to-wear to contemporary and avant-garde.
Femininity takes center stage as the selections delve into the different facets of womanhood, from the tender and the nurturing to the fierce and bold.
Experimental pieces are set to challenge inner conflicts, cultural struggles, and societal norms. Fluidity in nontraditional and nonbinary silhouettes champion inclusivity and diversity. Style innovations break free from the constraints of gender stereotypes, competition, materialism, and perfectionism.
The affair reintroduces fashion as a medium for self-discovery and storytelling, and couture itself as a transformative art form. Emotional depth is revealed behind each seam and stitch. Unique expressions produce creations that flow between the worlds of the living and the supernatural.
“Sinulid 2025: Threaded Experience” will reveal the collections in a runway show on Jan. 25, 6 p.m., on the 12th Floor of the Design + Arts Campus.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4, over 30 handpicked looks will grace an upcoming planned exhibition that will run until May 24.
