‘The Inquirer fueled my passion for storytelling’

The Philippine Daily Inquirer has been more than a newspaper to me; it has been a companion, a mentor, and an inspiration.

My journey with the Inquirer began when I was just 8 years old. Back then, my small hands would eagerly flip through the pages to find the comic strips and the Junior Inquirer section, immersing myself in stories that sparked my imagination and curiosity.

As I grew older, my reading expanded to the 2bU youth section, where I found relatable stories, advice, and a sense of belonging. The section felt like a space where young voices mattered—a precursor to what would eventually become my dream of joining the world of journalism.

By the time I was in high school, the Inquirer had become my gateway to understanding the complexities of the world. I started reading it cover to cover: from the hard-hitting news that kept me informed, to the thought-provoking opinions that challenged my views, and the lifestyle and entertainment sections that celebrated creativity and culture. Each article I read became a stepping stone toward my decision to pursue journalism.

Now, as a third-year journalism student, the Inquirer remains my guide. It continues to set the standard for what I aspire to become—a storyteller of truth, integrity, and impact. The narratives, investigative pieces, and features from the Inquirer have taught me not only the importance of facts but also the power of heart in storytelling.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer has touched my life by fueling my passion for storytelling, shaping my values as a journalist, and reminding me of the profound influence of the written word. Someday, I hope to contribute to its legacy, inspiring the next generation as it has inspired me.
