Tradition, cocktails, and lion dances
The new year signifies new beginnings and, for many, a time of renewal and hope. For some, that time begins at the start of the year, but for others, it aligns with the lunar calendar—marking a fresh start guided by the moon and age-old traditions, passed down through generations.
Echoing that spirit, Lifestyle.INQ hosted an intimate Chinese New Year celebration at The Penthouse 8747 to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse. A gorgeous, expansive view overlooking the city served as the backdrop for family, friends, and business partners to socialize and reconnect amid good food and good company.

With interiors inspired by Art Deco design, high-top tables for mingling, and booths made for intimate conversations, The Penthouse 8747 evokes the ambiance of old Chinese salons that bring together tradition and modernity. A bar area, vibrant with activity—with bartenders mixing drink after drink, spirits flowing in shot glasses, and glasses clinking—set the tone for an evening brimming with energy.
To start, guests were invited to write their wishes for the year and hang them on a prosperity tree adorned with delicate pink and red flowers and lucky red envelopes. Then, throughout the night, guests partook in free-flowing food and drinks—from The Penthouse 8747’s line of curated cocktails and hor d’oeuvres to spirits from Diageo, with Ciroc Vodka, Don Julio Reposado Tequila, Johnny Walker Gold Label Reserve Whisky, and Tanqueray Rangpur Gin forming the repertoire.

Crowd favorites of the evening include festive cocktails like the Dragon Mojito and Night in the Plaza, while delightful finger food like the crab cakes and siomai were easily within reach.
Then the highlight of the evening—a lion dance, punctuated by the rhythmic beat of drums to usher in luck and drive away negative energy. Pulsing with vibrant energy, the performance captivated guests as two colorful lions weaved through crowds, their every movement accompanied by cheers and laughter.

“This is really just a thank you for your time, and our gift to you is a lion dance because they say that… with this, you will have an amazing year, and that’s what we want for everyone,” says Lifestyle.INQ editor Ria Prieto.
It was a night of meaningful connections, shared traditions, and hopeful intentions as we stepped boldly into a year guided by passion, courage, and renewal.
