Vibrant Filipino artistry adds an early sparkle to the holidays

Holiday shopping starts early with a season of festivities being kicked off by Vetted—bringing together four of Manila’s top creatives to showcase the best of Filipino artistry and craftsmanship.

Vetted’s pre-Christmas pop-up, entitled “Garden of Earthly Delights,” features Caro Wilson by Mark Wilson, Amarie by Anne Marie Saguil, Beatriz by Carissa Cruz-Evangelista, and an in-house collection of Vetted, curated by founder Jonathan Matti.

From exquisite clothing and accessories to finely crafted décor and jewelry, Vetted’s “Garden of Earthly Delights” is a celebration of the vibrant artisan traditions of the country. To add to that, the curated collection of pieces by each designer features the most festive and colorful of their creations.

The selection of creatives for the pop-up was a natural choice for Matti. He credits the group’s friendship, and their synergy from their last show. “The items each one is showing is [also] complimentary to each other,” he says.

Amarie

This resortwear brand has been a mainstay at artisan fairs, known for vibrant collections that feature beautifully and meticulously hand-embroidered pieces. Each collection by Amarie is inspired by and reflects the spirit of the tropics. And with a variety of styles, they become wardrobe staples fit for any season. For Vetted, Amarie will showcase elegant separates, lounge pants, skirts, and dresses.

With a background in working with community-based enterprises, Beatriz founder Carissa Cruz-Evangelista champions collaborations with communities for their creations. Their pieces, ranging from bags, clutches, and cuffs, feature colorful weaves and local craftsmanship, adding a touch of character to any ensemble.

From being part of various global art exhibits, stores, and catalogs, Beatriz will be bringing their minaudieres and bags to the Vetted pop-up this month.

Taking inspiration from his life and personal influences, designer Mark Wilson marries tradition with contemporary forms through his various designs—be it furniture, lighting, and even jewelry. He plays with materials and textures, such as basket weaving, reimagined and rendered in gold and silver in his jewelry collection, aptly called “Cordillera” (as basket-weaving, wood-carving, and silver- and gold-smithing are among Cordilleran traditions).

Also featured are bespoke lamps, silver candlesticks, bronze, and lacquered objects topped with Matti’s signature pink silk-lined shades for a holiday-ready glow.
