Viviana Riccelli at Galleria Duemila
Riccelli’s exhibition “Chaos: the chaos that embeds passions, urges and compulsions that complete the whole” invites the viewer to be absorbed in a magic spell immersed in a space within unreal images. Riccelli studied in Rome, Berlin, Venice and Cairo, where she developed her aesthetic sensibilities by immersing herself in various cultures and communities, including projects with refugees and HIV/AIDS policies in Africa. Having traveled and lived in numerous countries across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, she engaged with local art as a pioneer. In her first solo exhibit at Galleria Duemila, “From the Sea to the Sky in Siquijor” (2017), the artist visualized her locality in a surreal frame of mind. Her apprenticeship under the abstract expressionist Nicolas Carone signaled a turning point in her development as a painter. She would learn from him to forget conventional images and break the space into organic forms.
Show runs until April 13. Galleria Duemila is at 210 Loring St., Pasay City.
