Taking charge of one’s health is key to maintaining optimum physical and mental condition. That’s why the wellness brand Watsons advocates for empowering individuals and communities to practice proactive health by organizing events like “The Great Health Fest,” which this year kicked off on May 12 and ran until May 17 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Music Hall.

The event, touted as the biggest health and wellness fest, featured more than 40 trusted brands that offered up to 80-percent discounts on products. It showcased interactive booths and gave away up to P1 million worth of prizes from partner brands.

Additionally, attendees enjoyed free health consultations, informative wellness talks from health professionals and brand ambassadors, and exclusive engagement activities for Watsons Club members. They went home with a better understanding of the importance of their health not only for themselves but for their families.

More people will get the chance to have the same experience when “The Great Health Fest” 2025 goes on tour. It has stops at SM Fairview (May 21 to May 27), SM Pampanga (May 29 to June 4), and SM Seaside Cebu (June 30 to July 6).

Go-to destination for health

“We want to establish ourselves as the go-to destination and authority for health,” said Joweeh Liao, Watsons director for health business unit, finance, property and store development, during the media roundtable at the MOA kickoff event.

“Our thrust is we are continuously expanding our range. We open stores in underserved communities. Aside from expanding our prescription range, we continue to bring in the trendy, what’s new in the vitamins and supplements sector, in the over-the-counter ranges. In terms of accessibility and convenience, we are further strengthening our online and offline presence as well.”

Sharon Decapia, Watsons senior AVP for marketing, PR, and sustainability, added on their online presence: “Our app actually is designed that you are able to get the full product range. Just in case it’s not available in one particular store, you can look for it on the app, and it will tell you which store is getting it that’s near you. So, it’s becoming more and more personalized.”

Decapia and Liao shared the good news that there will be more Watsons stores with extended hours such as up to midnight, and those that are open 24/7.

“We’re also ramping up our services,” Liao shared. “We are upscaling our pharmacies for them to be able to offer expert advice. And then, in-store, we have a number of stores with free consultation and everyday vaccination. So, really, when you go there, it’s beyond products.”

Blood pressure checks are also available at The Great Health Fest by Watsons

The current vaccines are available, including 2025 Flu, Pneumonia 13, Pneumonia 23, HPV 4, HPV 9, and Hepatitis B. Just inquire at the 200-plus stores that offer vaccination or get information from the app.

Decapia pointed out that Watsons, as part of an international franchise, enjoys the benefit of being backed by an international retailer. This helps them get the best products at more competitive prices that they then pass on to their customers.

“The big benefit is we have Watsons Generics,” Liao said. “That’s our own brand. We are the preferred retailer in vitamins and minerals and supplements. We can assure you of the quality, and at the same time, a very competitive pricing to maximize savings.”
