Wellness brand anticipates needs of parents, babies

It takes a village to raise a child, as they say, so moms welcome all the help that they can get. This was evident with the way they happily participated in the Watsons Mom & Baby Wonderland event, which kicked off last Thursday at SM Mall of Asia Atrium and will culminate today, May 14.
“At Watsons, we believe that supporting parents and nurturing the next generation begins with access to the right brands, knowledge, and care. That’s why we are deeply committed to curating wellness products specially made for parents, parents-to-be, and our little ones,” Watsons senior category manager for trading Pat Muyco said at the opening ceremonies.

Watsons Mom & Baby got off to a good start with moms of one, two, and multiple children, plus other attendees, trooping to the venue. At the registration booth, they were given a pass that lists all the activities they could participate in. There’s one for a selfie or family photos and another where moms and dads could have a smoothie or a health consultation. There was also something for the little ones at the mini playground.

What the attendees—moms or not—truly enjoyed was checking out the booths of Watsons’ partner brands to take part in the fun games and win some prizes. These included Watsons’ house brand, Watsons Baby, along with Cetaphil Baby, Aveeno Baby, Johnson’s Baby, Lactacyd Baby, Goongbe, Physiogel, Ceelin, and Cherifer. Goongbe is a Korean brand that specially works for baby’s sensitive skin, according to its local distributor.

Those who didn’t participate in the fun games still got to avail of other perks such as product discounts of up to 50 percent, and buy-one, take-one deals. They got to sample products and score exciting freebies, too.
They were also treated to a show featuring comical lab experiments, friendly mascots, and fairy tale characters brought to life by singing actors.

Motherhood lessons
During Watsons Mom & Baby Wonderland’s opening program, segment host Karla Aguas shared the stage with fellow moms Precious Viñas, CJ Go, Emerald Ridao, and Nanay Bea. They talked about their experiences navigating motherhood and the products they use.
As a first-time mom, Aguas confessed to having so many thoughts, such as “Was I overthinking? Was I doubting myself? Was I over-prepared?”
Go concurred, while looking back on the time she was due to give birth: “Actually, I’m an over-packer. As in, I’m so crazy. I searched all the hospital checklists. I bought them all!” The artist and business owner then gave credit to a mommy community she turned to for advice. “In the end, I just packed the essentials.”

Viñas, a content creator and business process outsourcing quality analyst, admitted she brought “so many things” to the hospital. But she ended up using only the changing outfits and power bank until she went home with her baby, who’s now an energetic 4-year-old preschooler.
Nanay Bea, a full-time working mom of two, said she brought her makeup kit and planner to the hospital. She soon realized there was no time to put makeup on and look at her planner before or after giving birth.
Ridao, a digital media strategist, said that what every mom needs is an unlimited supply of baby wipes not just for the little one, but also for herself. She got hearty approval from her fellow moms on stage and in the audience.

In the following days, the event was made even more special with appearances by celebrity moms Iza Calzado and Andi Manzano. They inspired the audience with their heartfelt messages and parenting stories.
