Who is Tallulah Proulx, the Fil-Am Winter Olympian?

Winter sports aren’t at the top of our local athletics programs for obvious reasons. But that hasn’t stopped Tallulah Proulx, a 17-year-old alpine skier, from being at the top of the game and becoming the first and youngest Filipina to ever qualify for the Winter Olympics.

Based in Utah, Proulx qualified for the giant slalom and slalom events in the upcoming games. Also joining her is Filipino-Italian Francis Ceccarelli.

The 2026 Winter Olympics are scheduled to run from Feb. 6 to 22 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Born in the snow

Born to an American father and a Filipino mother, Proulx began skiing at the age of three after discovering the sport during a family vacation to Tahoe, California. She began competing at seven years old, marking around a decade of competitive skiing. Proulx also recently graduated from high school from the Winter Sports School in Utah.

“Ever since I was little, I’ve loved skiing. I would eagerly wait for my parents to help me with my ski boots and then go up the mountain and rip the slopes,” says Proulx to the Olympic Council of Asia.

“Once I switched to racing, my passion for the sport and the joy of it have remained unchanged. Every day that I go out and ski, I come back feeling accomplished and thankful that I have such great opportunities in my life,” she adds.

She’s claiming it this time

Last year, Proulx participated in her first international race and represented the Filipino flag at the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China. She finished 16th out of a total of 44 skiers.

“Thank you to everyone who made this experience so memorable and special!! I am so grateful I got to participate and represent the Philippines, and I can’t wait to do even more in the future. I had so much fun meeting everyone and skiing in my first big international race. I miss it so much already,” she says in an Instagram post.

But beyond a sense of personal accomplishment, Proulx already understands the gravity that comes with representing a country internationally. Prior to the Asian Winter Games, when asked if her performance could play a part in generating interest in skiing in the Philippines, she says to the Olympic Council of Asia, “Yes, I guess we are pioneers, and I hope we can raise the profile of the sport back in the Philippines. I want everyone to know what fun alpine skiing is.”

Musically-inclined

Aside from taking up skiing, Proulx has also proven herself to be quite the multi-hyphenate. Last year, she was named to the Utah All-State High School Orchestra, training under Rowland Hall, an independent private school in Salt Lake City. She honed her skiing skills under Rowmark Ski Academy, which is also part of Rowland Hall.

Proulx is also a K-pop fan, more specifically, of Tomorrow X Together (TXT). She went to the group’s “Act: Promise” concert in the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, back in May 2024.

She travels a lot

One look at her Instagram profile and it’s apparent that Proulx is fond of traveling. Among the countries she’s already visited are Puerto Rico, China, and Chile. Back in 2024, she also joined a voluntary Youthlinc trip to India. Talk about a humanitarian/youth leader side to a future superstar athlete.
