Why I could face any storm with my Poplex

“Self-awareness is a key to self-mastery.” —Gretchen Rubin
To honor and celebrate the incredible men in our lives who have guided us and made a lasting impact, we salute them today, Father’s Day. It is the special occasion where we express our gratitude and appreciation for the fathers, grandfathers, father figures and mentors. As role models, these dads have taught valuable life lessons and core values. Through all of life’s challenges, their experience and wisdom have brought support, encouragement, and stability throughout the lives of their children.

During the most traumatic time of my life, my late father, Alex Prieto, gave me strength and courage to get back on my feet after almost a year of instability and chaos. I became his helpless little girl once again who needed a shield of love and protection from all the pain and anguish.

Never leaving my side, Poplex was the most understanding and patient, especially when I was going through my marriage breakup. Years later, he was still visibly present while I was ending another toxic relationship. I wish my dad was still around to help me navigate through this present journey. I could face any storm with him because we both have the same capacity to love unconditionally and give generously.
Poplex and I have so much in common. We love entertaining and playing golf. We enjoy family time in Australia and shopping for home furnishings. I am sure he would have loved the furniture display at CWC Design Center. The shop has several floors of contemporary home pieces with interesting modern designs.

Last week, CWC Interiors marked its 34th anniversary with an evening of design, legacy, and celebration. The milestone event was part of a monthlong affair beginning on May 23 with CWC’s annual Golf Invitational and Gala Night at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.
The June 5 event at the CWC Design Center was a fitting follow-through, gathering 200 guests composed of “captains of industry” who were featured in the “Seats of Distinction” commemorative book, design enthusiasts, collectors, clients, and industry leaders, for a night where the “Seats of Distinction” book and gallery was formally launched.

Two-year project
The book is the two-year project of CWC Interiors president and CEO Fred Yuson, who envisioned the book to immortalize 60 captains of industry from the different sectors of business, architecture, design, media, and entertainment, to name a few, with the CWC’s founder’s collection of iconic chairs. The book also features the chronological evolution of the chair, as CWC is the Philippine’s leading distributor of designer furniture from top international brands like MillerKnoll, Vitra, Walter Knoll, and Cappellini.

The gallery features the framed portraits of the captains with the actual models of their iconic chairs, and will be open to the public in the Design Center for a month.
A highlight of the evening was the relaunch of the CWC Scholarship Foundation, aimed at supporting design students at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, and now expanded to De la Salle schools in Visayas and Mindanao. Proceeds from the golf invitational, gala night, and sale of the book are for the benefit of the scholarship foundation.

The celebration reflected CWC’s legacy of design excellence, industry leadership, and enduring purpose. Fred has also agreed to support the Red Charity Gala happening on Oct. 4, at The Peninsula Manila. We will be featuring the fashion creations of Rhett Eala.

Another busy dad is Anton Huang. As head of Stores Specialists, Inc., Anton is constantly looking for the next brand to open in the country. His team brought in the global wellness and lifestyle brand Alo Yoga and celebrated the grand opening of its first store locally with an exclusive preview event at Level 1, Greenbelt 5, Makati City. Hosted in partnership with SSI Group, Inc., the evening welcomed Manila’s top names in fashion, wellness, and content creation.

Expansion in Southeast Asia
Notable guests in attendance included Nadine Lustre, Wil Dasovich, Kylie Verzosa, Mond Gutierrez, Hannah Pangilinan, Jess Wilson, Kaizen dela Serna, and Jessica Yang, all dressed in signature Alo looks.
The opening marks a significant step in Alo’s continued expansion across Southeast Asia, and further solidifies its presence as a global leader in luxury activewear and holistic wellness. The thoughtfully designed 235.5-square meter space features Alo’s full assortment of premium performance and lifestyle apparel for women, men, and unisex styles, blending fashion, function, and mindful living.

Juggling both being a mom and dad, I have been less focused on my beauty regime. Thanks to the recent Elizabeth Arden pocket event, I discovered their innovative products that help with skin brightening. The new Visible Brightening Clearly Radiant Spot Correcting Capsules harness advanced technology and potent brightening key ingredients to visibly deliver rapid results.

During the intimate event at Raffles Hotel, Elizabeth Arden emphasized that pesky dark spots and pigmentation issues could be treated at home. The legendary beauty brand has developed this new product with innovations focused on amplified potency and visible results.

Elizabeth Arden invited Dr. Jennie Diaz, a distinguished board-certified dermatologist of the Philippine Dermatological Society and the medical director of Skin 101. Dr. Jennie has become a prominent figure in the field, and is passionate about her advocacy for accessible skin care for every Filipino.

At the launch, she debunked common myths on dark spots, and presented real solutions such as using Elizabeth Arden’s Visible Brightening Clearly Radiant Spot Correcting Capsules.

June is a notable month because aside from Father’s Day, we also celebrate Philippine Independence Day and for me, it was my wedding anniversary month. As I continue my life journey, I celebrate my freedom and honor the new chapter that I am about to embark on. With God’s guidance, may I fully live the life that is truly meant for me!
