‘You taught me the importance of integrity’

Dear Mommy,
It’s been a while, seven months to be exact. I will be celebrating my first Mother’s Day without you this year. I won’t be sending you flowers or a gift or planning where we will eat out. So this year, I will honor you by sharing the most important lesson you taught me: the importance of integrity and keeping your word.
From the time I was little, you always made it clear how much it matters to be honest and to follow through on your word, whether it was a promise to a friend, being on time or just doing what I said I would. Back then, I didn’t always get it, but now I really do.
Because of you, I’ve learned that integrity is about showing up and being consistent, no matter the circumstances.
You also taught me that nobody is perfect, but that taking responsibility and making things right matters just as much. To this day, when I am faced with difficult choices, I am reminded of your words.
It’s hard not having you here today. But I see you in the values I try to live by, in the choices I make, and in the way I treat others. Your voice and your example are still with me, guiding me every step of the way.
Thank you, Mom, for everything—your strength, your wisdom, and your love. I hope I’m making you proud, and it will always be my privilege to be called your daughter. I love you and I miss you every day!
