2025 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 gets restyle for CVT variants

Avatar

The Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has been in the Philippine market since 2013.

To put that into perspective, this subcompact sedan has been on our roads since I was in second-year college (also puts into perspective how old I am). Nonetheless, this fuel-miser continues to be among the country’s top-selling vehicles, even occasionally outselling the younger and more powerful Toyota Vios.

The Mirage G4 likewise plays a major role in the Philippine economy – together with its hatchback sibling, it is among the vehicles that are enrolled in the P27-billion Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy Program. That means this little Mitsubishi uses mostly Filipino-produced components that are proudly assembled in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

This month, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) announced that it has made some tweaks to its veteran four-door, specifically the variants equipped with the continuously variable transmission (CVT).

New lights

Although the Mirage G4 still looks the same as its major refresh from 2021, owners can expect much better visibility at night thanks to the all-new LED headlights.

These flank the prominent, matte-black front grille that incorporates the design seen in the bestselling Xpander and Xpander Cross multi-purpose vehicles, along with the Montero sport-utility vehicle. Under the hood is the truly tried-and-tested 1.2-liter, twin-cam, 12-valve inline-3 engine pumping out 76 horsepower and 100 Newton-meters of torque.

Down the side, the Mirage G4’s prominent character line remains, running above the door handles – new for 2025 CVT models are the two-tone, 15-inch alloy wheels. Finally, the rear end incorporates a small trunk spoiler and pert rear bumper, now complemented by jewel-like LED taillights.

More safety kit

MMPC also announced that it has made hill start assist and active stability control across all updated Mirage G4 variants.

These are on top of the standard driver and passenger airbags, as well as ISOFIX child-restraint anchors. Other interior features that are carried over to this latest model include the seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the top-spec GLS variant gets keyless entry, automatic climate control and a reversing camera.

The revamped Mirage G4 range continues to have three models – the GLX M/T at P793,000, the GLX CVT at P841,000 and the GLS CVT at P937,000. Exterior colors include Titanium Gray, Cool Silver Metallic, Red Metallic and the by-order White Solid.

“Since its introduction to the Philippine market in 2013, the Mirage G4 has become one of MMPC’s key models, majorly contributing to the company’s yearly sales volume,” MMPC said in a press statement.

“With its proven reliability, it has consistently won the hearts of new car buyers,” the carmaker added. “Now, with fresh updates for 2025, the Mirage G4 is ready to elevate daily drives once again – proving that a ride this practical has never looked this good.”

MMPC sold 91,639 vehicles in 2024, which is 12 percent higher than in 2023. Besides cementing its position as the Philippines’ second-largest automaker, the feat marks the second consecutive year of record-breaking sales for the company.

Given how long-lasting the Mirage G4 has been in the Philippines, imagine how much more popular it would become when the all-new model comes out.
