All-new 2025 MG HS Hybrid+ now in PH for under P1.4M
MG Philippines seems dead-set in keeping its position as the country’s top-selling Chinese carmaker.
Its latest weapon of choice? The all-new MG HS compact crossover, which was launched on Friday at the Bonifacio Global City Amphitheater in Taguig City.
As we reported last Wednesday in our preview drive, this big MG is available exclusively with a hybrid-electric powerplant – a turbocharged 1.5-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 gasoline engine mated to a 1.83-kWh battery and an electric motor. Combined output is a class-leading 222 horsepower and 340 Newton-meters of torque.
We lauded the HS Hybrid+ for its excellent acceleration, strong brakes and predictable driving dynamics, but pointed out how the excessive movement in the shock absorbers made the ride wallowy. A full review of this electrified crossover is forthcoming, which will include fuel-economy figures.
“The MG HS Hybrid+ is more than just a new model – it is our statement of intent for the future of mobility in the Philippines,” said MG Philippines president Felix Jiang in a press statement.
“It brings together modern design, world-class safety, and next-generation hybrid technology in one premium package – a vehicle designed to let Filipino motorists truly experience a 5-star life,” he added.

Stylish and comfy
Major exterior features include large Digital Matrix LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Alenza tires, silver roof rails with 75-kilogram capacity, reverse-auto-tilting side mirrors, panoramic moonroof and full-width LED taillights.
Inside, the big MG features a spacious cabin for five lined in soft, black leather upholstery, as well as dual 12.3-inch screens for the digital gauges and the touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other goodies include a powerful dual-zone climate control system, wireless charging and electric front seats with driver’s side memory.
We found that the HS Hybrid+ looked sportier than more traditional rivals like the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i and the Ford Territory Hybrid. However, we noted that the interior lacked the BYD’s sparkle, along with having the BYD’s rather small cargo area.
Comprehensive safety
The big MG also boasts impressive safety credentials, bagging five out of five stars in the notoriously stringent European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) and the Australasian NCAP.

This is largely because of the standard MG Pilot adaptive driver-assistance system, which includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert and braking, and a clear 360-degree camera.
Complimenting all these are front, side, and curtain airbags, along with vehicle dynamics control and active rollover protection. Our initial test found that the MG Pilot system was helpful in both short and long trips, all while substantially increasing the safety margin in the Philippines’ crazy roads.
Cheapest of the trio
The all-new 2025 MG HS Hybrid+ is available in Black Pearl, Lunar Gray, Pearl White, Champagne Silver and Diamond Red.
We reported that MG Philippines would price its new electrified crossover under P1.7 million – and boy, they really did. Its limited-time introductory price of P1,388,888 (P10,000 less than the retail price) makes the HS Hybrid+ considerably cheaper than the similarly equipped BYD Sealion 6 DM-i at P1,548,000 and the Ford Territory Hybrid Titanium X at P1,599,000.

This price point also heavily undercuts smaller Japanese hybrid crossovers like the P1,610,000 Toyota Yaris Cross HEV and the P1,799,000 Honda HR-V e:HEV. It’s clear that the strong value-for-money proposition that MG Philippines used in the ZS Hybrid+ has been carried over into this bigger model.
The carmaker said the HS Hybrid+ is now available for viewing and test drives at all authorized MG dealerships nationwide.
