Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines is taking on the BYD ATTO 3 with the launch of the all-new Jaecoo J5 EV subcompact crossover on Thursday at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

The Chinese automaker said its latest battery-electric vehicle (EV) will be available in two variants, namely the Standard and the Max. It joins the J5 hybrid EV in the company’s lineup, along with the larger J7 plug-in-hybrid, compact crossover and the EJ6 battery EV.

Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines added that PIMS visitors can get event-exclusive promos on all of its models – those who pre-order the J5 EV for just P10,000 will get an additional P30,000 discount (P20,000 from June 8 to June 30, 2026 only), while those who already own a Jaecoo will get another P10,000 off.

The company is also offering a Referral Loyalty Benefit – existing Jaecoo owners get two free preventive maintenance services (PMS), while the referred, new J5 EV owner receives an additional P10,000 discount. PIMS buyers likewise get one-year free roadside assistance, one-year free PMS and three-years free remote mobile-phone control service.

Sleek looks

The J5 EV retains the crisp, European-inspired styling of its hybrid EV sibling, particularly the high beltline, blacked-out pillars and sleek LED headlights and taillights.

The battery-electric model distinguishes itself by eschewing the J5 HEV’s prominent front grill, along with having a subtler lower bumper. All models get 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/55-series tires, but only the J5 EV Max gets a functional roof rack, a panoramic moonroof and a power tailgate.

Inside, all J5 EV variants come with black leather upholstery, but moving up to the Max gets you soft-touch cabin materials, leather door trim, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a wireless charging pad and a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Cargo capacity with the rear seats up is 450 liters.

ADAS available

The J5 EV Standard and Max are powered by a 58.9-kWh CATL LFP battery pack mated to a front-mounted electric motor.

Combined output is 208 horsepower and 288 Newton-meters of torque, which Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines said is good for 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds. The company also claims a maximum NEDC range of 461 kilometers on one full charge, while charging time from 30 to 80 percent is just 28 minutes using a DC fast-charger.

All models get front and side airbags, ISOFIX child-restraint anchors, a reversing camera, anti-lock brakes, traction control and roll-stability control. The Max variant adds curtain airbags, a 540-degree camera system and adaptive driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Rear Cross Traffic Braking.

The all-new 2026 Jaecoo J5 EV will be on display at the Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines booth at PIMS from June 4 to 7, 2026 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
