Cheers to 3 years!

Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) is now three years old this month.

Although the South Korean carmaker has been in the Philippines for over 25 years, it came under new management last July 2022. Since then, the company has completely overhauled its formerly lackluster model range – the debut of the all-new Kona HEV crossover on Friday is the latest in its effort to cater to the growing demand for hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV).

To mark this momentous occasion, HMPH held its Hyundai Mobility Experience at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater in Taguig City. The festivities kicked off with the Kona HEV launch, followed by an exciting mini-concert featuring Lola Amour, Sam Concepcion and Hyundai Brand Ambassador Sarah Geronimo.

Other fun activities included test-drives of the latest Hyundai models, as well as the simulator-racing challenge in the N booth, which showcased the company’s Elantra N and IONIQ 5 N high-performance models.

3 major milestones

HMPH general manager for marketing Mark Parulan told Inquirer Mobility, in an exclusive interview, that the brand has reinvigorated its local presence by bringing in desirable models this 2025 like the all-new Kona, the revamped Creta and the full Elantra lineup.

Parulan added that HMPH has become a major player in vital segments in the local automotive industry. For instance, its best-seller in 2024 was the Stargazer/Stargazer X seven-seat, multi-purpose vehicle, which accounted for over half of the company’s turnout at 6,068 units.

Finally, Parulan said the company has worked hard to grow its nationwide dealer network over the last three years.

Lala Amour was the opening act to a blockbuster anniversary treat that also included Sam Concepcion.

“There are 44 now and we’re hoping to close at 46 by the end of 2025,” he said.

HMPH president Jiho Son, who succeeded Dongwook Lee last October 2024, personally thanked Filipinos who continue to believe in the brand.

“I want to appreciate all the people – our customers, our dealers, our bank partners, the media and all the support from our partners,” he told Inquirer Mobility in an exclusive interview.

“We couldn’t achieve this success without you,” Son added.

Not just a car company

Parulan said HMPH is going beyond just selling cars.

“We are a brand that has a purpose to increase the quality of life,” he said. “Our vision is ‘Progress for Humanity’ and, more than selling a car, we are improving the experiences of our customers.”

Parulan added that besides introducing desirable new models, HMPH is working to improve its after-sales as the company believes that ownership experience should be the “number-one priority.” The carmaker is also making a strong push for sustainability, not only in its cars, but also in its operations.

As of press time, HMPH’s electrified lineup includes the all-new Kona, Elantra, Santa Fe and Tucson HEVs, along with the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6 battery-electric vehicles.

As we go past the midway point for 2025, expect HMPH to work even harder to make itself seen and heard across the country. Happy third anniversary!
