Chery sets new global sales record

Chery Auto has closed 2025 on a historic high, posting its strongest global sales performance to date and reinforcing its growing credibility in highly competitive markets such as the Philippines. Official figures show that Chery sold 244,928 vehicles in December 2025 alone, bringing its total global sales for the year to a record-breaking 2,806,393 units—the highest in the brand’s history.

This milestone underscores Chery’s sustained momentum as a global automotive player. In 2025, the brand exported 1,344,020 vehicles worldwide, a 17.4 percent year-on-year increase, and maintained its position as China’s No. 1 passenger vehicle exporter for the 23rd consecutive year. Its expanding footprint has also translated into a growing global community, with total Chery owners now numbering 18.53 million across more than 80 countries.

Chery’s recent accolades further strengthen its global standing. The Chery Tiggo 8, marketed locally as the Tiggo rEV Luxury Edition was named Carwow Car of the Year 2026 in the UK, a notable recognition in one of the world’s most discerning automotive markets.

These global achievements are increasingly mirrored in the Philippine market, where Chery Auto Philippines has continued to build momentum. In 2025, the Tiggo rEV Luxury Edition logged a class-leading 84.28 km/Lge at the Department of Energy Fuel Eco Run, highlighting the brand’s strength in electrified mobility. The same model also topped plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sales among CAMPI members in October 2025, signaling growing consumer acceptance of Chery’s hybrid offerings.

With a network of 25 dealerships nationwide, Chery Auto Philippines has steadily expanded its reach, offering a diverse lineup of SUVs and crossovers tailored to the preferences of the local market. Backed by UAAGI Auto Group’s aftersales infrastructure, the brand continues to position itself as a practical yet forward-looking choice in a market dominated by more established Japanese and Korean players.

A key driver of Chery’s rising brand confidence is its recent success in global safety assessments. The Tiggo 8 (Tiggo rEV LE) earned a 5-star rating from both the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) and the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). The model delivered strong results across critical categories, including Adult and Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection, and Safety Assist technologies.

These top-tier safety ratings carry significant weight, particularly in the Philippines, where buyers are increasingly discerning and value global validation when considering newer or rapidly growing brands. Meeting and even exceeding the stringent standards of ANCAP and Euro NCAP helps position Chery as a credible, globally tested manufacturer rather than merely a value-driven alternative.

In a highly competitive local automotive landscape, global scale, proven safety credentials, and strong fuel-efficiency performance collectively translate into stronger brand trust. For Chery, this trust is critical to converting awareness into sustained sales growth. As Filipino motorists become more open to hybrid and electrified vehicles, Chery’s combination of competitive pricing, international recognition, and robust aftersales support places it in a favorable position to capture a larger share of the market in the coming years as Chery Auto enters the next phase of its growth focused on delivering reliable, innovative, and globally trusted vehicles. For the Philippine market, this momentum signals not just short-term gains, but a stronger long-term foundation built on confidence, credibility, and competitiveness.
