The Philippine National Police is the national police force of our country.

Currently, it has about 228,000 personnel to police a population of more than 100 million Filipinos.

The PNP was formed on January 29, 1991, when the Philippine Constabulary and the Integrated National Police were merged pursuant to Republic Act 6975 of 1990. It’s headquartered at Camp Crame in Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, Quezon City.

Last year, the agency acquired P1.48-billion worth of equipment to boost the capabilities of police units in anti-criminality operations.

The PNP procured 44 light transport vehicles, 120 armored personnel carriers, 203 patrol jeeps, 5,755 units of 5.565 basic assault rifles, at least five million rounds of ammunition, 949 enhanced combat helmets, 2,825 undershirt all-purpose vests and 959 tactical all-purpose vests.

Early this year, it acquired 143 new patrol vehicles and 16 motorcycles.

Recently, the PNP further strengthened its supplies with Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) help.

Five Stargazer Premium units were delivered to the Philippine National Police just last month.

HMPH executives: Jiho Son, president; Cecil Capacete, managing Director, and Hongshik Chin, chief finance officer were there to personally hand over the Stargazer units. The ceremony was also graced by the presence of PNP Chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, Police Colonel Jaime Serina III, Police Major General Mario Reyes, as well as members of the PNP Command Group.

228,000-strong personnel police a population of more than 100 million Filipinos in the country. HMPH’s donations of 5 Hyundai Stargazer units is a simple gesture in helping strengthen the force.

This donation marks the second partnership between HMPH and the PNP. Previously, HMPH also extended its aftersales support to the agency in 2023, by providing them free two-year periodic maintenance services (PMS) for their fleet of Hyundai patrol cars, ensuring the overall roadworthiness of the vehicles.

“As you know, the Philippine National Police plays a vital role in maintaining peace and order in our communities. Which is why we at Hyundai are deeply committed to providing modern, efficient, and reliable vehicles that can help strengthen the PNP’s operations, and allow them to respond more swiftly and effectively to the needs of our citizens,” said Son in his special message.

For the company’s top honcho, the Hyundai Stargazer is a perfect embodiment of this commitment – combining advanced technology, comfort, and reliability to meet the demands of mobility for public service.

“This makes it an ideal choice for the PNP, serving as both a practical vehicle for daily operations, while also ensuring the safety and comfort of our police personnel as they carry out their duties,” he added.

Meanwhile, according to PNP Chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, these vehicles will significantly bolster the administrative operations of the PNP Command Group and the Directorate for Logistics, ensuring that their logistical capabilities remain seamless and responsive.

“With enhanced mobility and efficiency, these vehicles empower our personnel to focus on fulfilling their duties to serve and protect the Filipino people. Let us continue to uphold our vision of “Mahusay, Matatag, at Maasahan na Kapulisan” – a modern Filipino Police Force for a modern Filipino society,” he then added.

“Together, with steadfast partnerships and unwavering commitment to public service, we are building a brighter, safer tomorrow.”
