Ford Philippines launches special editions of Everest Sport, Ranger Sport

Two of Ford Philippines’ most popular offerings have just gotten more appealing.

The American carmaker officially debuted the Everest Sport Special Edition and the Ranger Sport Special Edition at the 24th Henry Ford Awards last Monday. Both models feature upgrades from the regular Everest Sport and Ranger Sport to help owners stand out from the rest.

Potent pick-up

For starters, the Ranger Sport Special Edition comes equipped with a long-leg sports bar that extends from the cab to the rear.

Ford Philippines said this not only gives the pickup a more rugged look, but also offers additional protection when hauling heavy or uneven cargo. In addition, retractable cup holders are now integrated into the instrument panel, which the company said was highly requested by customers.

As with all other Rangers, this special variant is powered by a 2.0-liter, twin-cam, 16-valve inline-4 turbodiesel engine pumping out 168 horsepower and 405 Newton-meters of torque. This is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and is available in 4×2 or 4×4 configurations.

“The Ranger portfolio continues to grow with the Ranger Sport Special Edition – perfect for pickup customers who are looking for a more functional truck for loading or hauling, but with the same features found on and dynamic look of the Ranger Sport,” said Ford Philippines retail product marketing and business growth director Ryan Lorenzo in a press statement.

“With the Ranger Sport Special Edition, we are making it standard in every Ford Ranger relevant features such as the sports bar and cup holder that our customers are looking for,” he added.

The Ranger Sport Special Edition starts at P1,529,000 and comes in Absolute Black, Arctic White, Blue Lightning and Meteor Grey colors.

Slick 7-seater

Meanwhile, the Everest Sport Special Edition has been given a sleeker, blacked-out profile that makes it fit in better with the urban set.

These include a gloss-black roof and tailgate spoiler, black 20-inch alloy wheels with striking red inserts and bold “Everest” hood lettering. As with other high-end Everest variants, this Special Edition comes with leather seats with Sport styling, a 10-inch vertical touchscreen with SYNC 4A connectivity, a wireless charging pad and an electrically operated tailgate.

The Everest Sport Special Edition also uses the same 2.0-liter turbodiesel and 6-speed automatic drivetrain as its pick-up cousin, but only comes in 4×2. For added safety, the Everest Sport Special Edition has Electronic Stability Program with Traction Control System, Hill Launch Assist and Roll Over Mitigation, seven airbags and an adjustable speed limiter.

The Everest Sport Special Edition comes in Aluminum Metallic and Snowflake White Pearl colors and starts at P2,194,000.

Both the Ranger Sport Special Edition and the Everest Sport Special Edition come with a 5-year vehicle warranty, as well as FordPass that allows users remote access to functions like remote door lock and unlock, remote engine stop and start with pre-cooling, vehicle locator, and vehicle status.
