Foton awes with first-ever electric people hauler and “Wonder” pickup
Foton Motor Philippines, in its own quest for carbon neutrality and sustainability, has introduced another workhorse and an unprecedented full-electric model at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show.
For four days, these two models are to be displayed inside the sprawling grounds of the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
The said vehicle launches come after the company unveiled more than a year ago the full electric light-duty truck, Foton Tornado EV and the full electric pickup, Foton Thunder EV, both being the country’s “firsts” during the time of their introductions.
“We are excited to once again showcase at this year’s Philippine International Motor Show the world-class design, quality, and technology that Foton has to offer, particularly our new fully electric and hybrid models that span a wide range of automotive segments,” said Foton Motor Philippines general manager, Levy Santos.
Country’s first-ever full electric people hauler
The electric spectacle we are talking about is the country’s first-ever pure electric passenger van, the Foton Traveller Sierra EV.
The Traveller Sierra EV has a driving range of 303 kilometers, thanks to its generous 77.28 kWh battery capacity. It has a strong power output of 181 hp and 330 N-m of torque, giving it responsive acceleration and a top speed of 120 km/h.
It is equipped with a DC fast-charging capability of 1 hour and 7 hours on regular AC outlet. It boasts a five-year/200,000-km warranty for its electric system.
The vehicle likewise sports a number of notable features, such as: electronic parking brake, multi-function steering wheel, electronic power steering, and a large dash-mounted touchscreen infotainment system.
“Wonder” pickup
As an icon for tough and reliable workhorses, Foton continues this legacy with the all-new gasoline-powered pickup, the Foton Wonder.
This new workhorse is deemed to be a top choice of both micro and small business owners and entrepreneurs, and even multinational logistics companies.
Designed for commercial and lifestyle use, the vehicle is ideal for mobile businesses, such as: food, cafes, retail, and services.
It is powered by a 1.6-L four-cylinder engine, paired with a five-speed tranny, that produces 120hp and 152 N-m of torque.
By its size, it would most likely rival the likes of the Suzuki Carry and Toyota LiteAce.
4-day show
Throughout the four-day show, the carmaker continues to deliver its message of empowerment for every Filipino business powered by the brand’s commercial vehicles’ world-class durability and dependability.

Foton is having a comprehensive presence during the show, with booths inside and outside the main exhibit hall of the World Trade Center, a test drive area, and even an aftersales booth for customers.
