Bangkok, Thailand – There’s no denying the fact that the Philippine market commands attention from those at the international headquarters nowadays.

It’s just that the numbers don’t lie.

So while churning out the big numbers is nothing new for Foton Motor Philippines, Inc. (FMPI), it seems that this distributor in a little country in Southeast Asia is also flexing its muscle in terms of teaching its counterparts how to achieve success in selling vehicles in a now very competitive market.

FMPI’s tag as a little giant in the eyes of its mother company couldn’t be more stressed after it emerged as among the most awarded subsidiaries at the recently-concluded Foton Asia Pacific Partners Conference 2025 held in the Land of Smiles.

FMPI came away with three of the top awards including the Excellence in New Product Launch and Outstanding Sales Contribution Team Awards and the Excellence in Service individual award given to Lito Landicho, FMPI’s VP for Aftersales.

FMPI General Manager Levy Santos and Landicho led a Philippine contingent that flew to the Thai capital not only to receive the awards but also to impart a special message to their regional counterparts on how they continue to reap success in the rapidly-changing Philippine transport industry.

“This success was never accidental as it was the result of an unwavering partnership. Foton Motor China provided world-class innovation, engineering excellence, and a willingness to adapt to the needs of the Philippine market while we at FMPI brought deep local understanding, a commitment to service, and an unyielding passion for building trust with our customers,” an emotional Santos said before an international audience.

“Together, we didn’t just sell vehicles; we built opportunities. We empowered countless Filipino businesses to grow, enabled industries to thrive, and provided mobility solutions that truly made a difference,” Santos said.

The recognition ceremony of the regional partners’ top performers capped a three-day conference that also coincided with the inauguration of Foton’s new manufacturing plant in Thailand, a joint venture with the giant CP Group with the capacity to produce a full range of commercial vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks, light trucks, and buses. An added highlight to the inauguration attended by Foton executives from China and Thailand as well as dignitaries from the Thai government are the rollout of Foton’s 1,000,000th export unit—the humongous Foton EST400AMT heavy truck and the presentations of the latest products.

At the center of the new product launches are the three fully electric Foton models: the e-Auman heavy truck, the eMiler compact commercial vehicle and the eTunland full-size pickup.

Through its leaders, Foton announced its relentless drive to keep pace with the growing trend of New Energy Vehicles. They are ramping up on the development of full-electric, hydrogen, and fuel cell commercial vehicles that are expected to be included in their fleet in the coming years.

Having been able to consistently prove their mettle in pushing for the Foton vehicles big or small to local customers, the multi-awarded FMPI team at the Bangkok conference knows they have the full trust and confidence of the mother company in China for what could be the next big challenge.

Bring it on.
