Geely makes it to the “Beverly Hills of the PH”

Ronald Rey M. delos Reyes

Significant parts of Alabang in Las Piñas is considered by most as the “Beverly Hills of the Philippines”, as the vicinity features high-end township development, offering world-class amenities and a secure, gated environment.

Alabang, evolved from a Spanish-era agricultural area to a premier business district, mixed with a sophisticated blend of modern, upscale urban living and relaxed, suburban charm in the South of Metro Manila.

Now, for businessmen, along with families, this is the place to be. Just like what ANC Group of Companies and Geely Motor Philippines recently did when they officially opened their newest dealership along Alabang-Zapote Road.

“Of course, in the automotive industry, if you want to be a significant player, you have to be in Alabang,” said Alan Lopez, managing director of ANC Group of Companies.

“So, we’re very, very lucky to be here.”

According to him, the newly-opened Geely Alabang dealership, which offers 2,000 sqm of space, features “3S” (sales, service, spare parts) facilities, offering premier, accessible, and high-end automotive retail experiences for southern Metro Manila residents.

It likewise showcases a six-car showroom, a mezzanine, a basement for an 850-sqm space for an aftersales facility catering to day-to-day ownership needs, along with seven work bays.

The design and capacity of the facility reflect Geely’s emphasis on “ownership readiness, where showroom experience is matched with service capacity behind the scenes”.

By expanding aftersales capability in the south, Geely improves car owners accessibility to maintenance and support for those who live and traverse the area.

Gaining back the trust of the dealers

It was quite challenging for the Chinese brand in recent years as it had to navigate through issues regarding its customer and aftersales services, negatively impacting sales and patronage of its products.

Early last year it made a brand relaunch signifying its commitment to the Philippine market, again aspiring to regain the trust it once had through better overall services and products.

Back when Geely first started, the carmaker then was able to increase local sales by 52 percent from 2021, churning out 9,302 units in 2022. Surprisingly, in just four years in the country, its overall total sales reached more than 24,600 units.

That time, the ANC Group of Companies built their first Geely dealership in Imus, Cavite.

“We were selling 80 to 100 units per month during that time,” Lopez continued.

However, despite initial success, Geely’s sales started declining by 2023 due to service issues, negative publicity, and transmission problems.

“Geely has been quiet these past few years. But they are slowly getting back on their feet. In fact, in 2025, we put up our Geely Makati dealership, “he then shared.

“It’s better now with a subsidiary. This means we can directly address our concerns straight to the headquarters in China.”

Key is aftersales service

When asked what measures they are implementing to be able to not repeat the mistakes of the past, he replied: “I think, like any other brand, the key to the success of any automotive brand is its aftersales and customer service.”

“The availability of parts, the readiness of the dealerships, to serve their customers in the after sales department, has always defined the success of the brand because it’s through after sales and availability of parts that customers become more confident, to buy and continue to patronize the brand.”

He even divulged that they now have a warehouse that can accommodate a capacity five million spare parts.

Best among China brands

Lopez even continued by saying that Geely, for them, is the best among Chinese brands in the country.

“That’s why we are very confident about their products.
And this year, they will be making a statement.”

For him, Geely will be bringing in really good products that can match any good brand in the market. These cars are hybrid vehicles, along with the regular staples of the Coolray, Okavango and the EX5 EMI.

“So, with that, we’re really putting our bet on this brand.”

In terms of sales, he expects that they would naturally start off slowly, like 30 to 40 units per month. But eventually this will gradually go back to when Geely first started.

Moreover, he said, “
We really believe that Geely is the best in terms of design, technology, durability. And it’s really premium built…which is actually very, very, very fit for the Alabang market.”
