The Porsche Cayenne has been one of the best vehicles in the marque’s lineup. The luxury SUV is known for its smooth and seamless ride, offering a reliable and otherworldly driving experience unmatched by any other.
Three months ago, the newest Cayenne was introduced as part of the carmaker’s 27th year anniversary celebrations in the country. Recently, just over the weekend, an electrified version of Porsche’s bestselling SUV was unveiled. This time, it was part of the marque celebrating 75 years of Porsche sports cars in this part of the world. Together with this car launch was the groundbreaking of the 15-storey Porsche Center Manila.
Present at the launch were PGA Cars Founder and Principal Robert Coyiuto, Jr., Porsche Philippines President and CEO Roberto Coyiuto III, and Porsche Asia Pacific CEO Hannes Ruoff. German ambassador to the country Dr. Andreas Michael Pfaffernoschke also graced the affair.
“As we look back on a year of vibrant expressions of Porsche passion in Asia Pacific, we are glad that Porsche Philippines wraps up our 75th anniversary of sports cars with another thrilling activation,” said Ruoff.
“The introduction of the new Cayenne E-Hybrid in the country represents the latest chapter in our evolving success story,”Roberto Coyiuto III, meanwhile, for his part, said.
“Through models like this, we are redefining the concept of luxury by taking environmental and personal wellbeing into account along with performance,” he added.
“It also signifies our intention to continuously set the benchmark in the domestic luxury auto sector.”
The new Cayenne E-Hybrid further widens the lineup of the marque, giving customers more greener options for their personal mobility. This vehicle features an improved electric range, electric motor power and charging speed.
Under the hood of this electrified Cayenne is a 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine producing 304 hp. It is coupled with a new electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission. When combined, the combustion engine and electric motor achieve a sum output of 470 hp and 650 N-m of torque. This allows this newest brute to scamper from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. It can top at a speed of 254 km/h.
What’s special about this vehicle is that it optimizes the configuration of its driving modes. For example, at speeds less than 55 km/h, the drive system shifts in hybrid mode. This is where the combustion engine and the electric motor share the workload. At faster speeds, the internal combustion engine takes over completely while, at the same time, charging the battery. This process can allow around 90 kilometers to run on electric power.
