Honda Philippines, Inc. is charging to the future and it’s nothing else but electric!

Honda’s tagline, “The Power of Dreams”, has always reflected the manufacturer’s commitment to bring people’s vision and passion to life through creativity, technology and innovation. And, in a world where sustainability has become a necessity, the much-loved marque is not only driving technological advancements, but also striving to create a positive impact. Dreams, after all, aren’t just visions, but powerful catalysts for change and innovation.

One of Honda’s bold dreams is to attain carbon neutrality by 2050. In the Philippines, it jumpstarted its journey by announcing its lineup of electrification projects last September 18 (including powered handheld products like a hedge trimmer, a blower, and a chainsaw–now Jason Voorhees can join the sustainability movement, too!)

Volt In: The All-New EM1 e

It’s lean, it’s mean, its an (ultra) quiet, green machine. The all-new EM1 e, Honda Philippines Inc.’s first two-wheeled Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) in the country, is a motorcyclist’s ticket to a greener, smarter commute. Powered by the brand’s innovative Brushless Electric Motor, the electric scoot boasts a range of 42.3 kilometers (Standard Mode) and 48 kilometers on Econ Mode on a single charge, with a top speed of 45 km/h. Plus, with its swappable battery, range anxiety is a thing of the past—just swap and go!

The EM1 e: isn’t just about performance; it’s packed with modern features like bright LED lights, an LCD digital meter, and even a USB charger for your gadgets. Need to carry your school or work stuff or even groceries with you? No problem, there’s a handy rear carrier for bulky items and front inner pocket, perfect for stashing your essentials on the go.

“With a growing number of EVs in the market, Honda remains committed to providing products that are of top quality, reliable and unquestionably durable, which embodies our commitment to sustainable transportation solutions,” said Honda Philippines Inc.’s President Sayaka Arai.

The new EM1 e also comes with a two-year warranty, ensuring peace of mind. For those ready to jump from internal combustion to electric bikes, the all-new EM1 e retails at P155,400. It’s also available in two premium color options–Pearl Sunbeam White and Digital Silver Metallic, and comes with a Honda Mobile Power Pack e and Honda Power Pack Charger e. An extra battery will set you back P42,500.

But what about the rest of us?

Even if electric vehicles are rapidly gaining traction, there is still, undoubtedly, that timeless allure of internal combustion motorcycles. For some of us, the roar of a gas-powered engine, the unmistakable sound and feel of a classic engine and visceral thrill it gives remain irreplaceable.

Honda Philippines Inc. understands the need for gas-powered motorcycles in the country, especially for those who ride long-distance and carry bigger, heavier loads often.

“For now, we will still provide internal combustion engines (for these needs),” said Arai. “But there are many areas, such as Bonifacio Global City, where you go 10 or 20 kilometers, that are really good for electric. We will gradually shift to electric, because that can help people save on gas consumption and drive carbon neutrality. It will take time, but this is good mobility.”

The acceleration towards an electric future is undeniably a positive step forward. But the timeless charm and unmatched thrill of gas-powered bikes ensure that they will continue to hold a special place in the hearts of many riders. In this evolving landscape, there’s always room for both innovation and tradition–and the all-new EM1 e allows riders to choose the path that best fuels their dreams and passion.
