Iconic cars debuting at MIAS throughout the years

From the first iteration of the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), the annual event has been all about the cars. That distinction is set to continue in 2025, Here are some of the memorable vehicles that have been launched or made their public debut at MIAS:

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Elantra N

Hyundai has made its mark with value-proposition cars and SUVs, and with 2024, revealed its hot streak with the debut of its N performance division. The Ioniq 5 N sport EV delivers 650ps with all of its torque available instantly, with 0-100kph in 3.4 seconds on tap. The Elantra N packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 276ps and 392Nm, mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Foton Tunland diesel hybrids

Suzuki Jimny 5-door

Suzuki expanded its popular Jimny SUV lineup, literally, with the new 5-door model. The Jimny 5-door provides more space and easier access, for owners who would use the SUV for family transport.

Honda Civic Type R

The first officially-sold Civic Type R debuted at MIAS 2017. The long-awaited Civic Type R, with 320ps and 400Nm, modulated by a six-speed manual transmission, quickly sold out its first batch.

Ford Mustang

Ford unveiled the all-new Mustang at the 2018 Mustang. The Mustang arrived in four variants, including the classic 5.0-liter V8 GT with 10-speed automatic. The fastback was joined for the first time by the Mustang convertible.

Toyota Fortuner

Ford Ranger Raptor

Ford previewed its flagship pickup, the Ranger Raptor, at MIAS’ 2023 show. The Ranger Raptor comes with either a 3.0-liter gasoline V6, or a 2.0-liter diesel inline-four. Both engines are equipped with twin turbos to extract maximum power.

Subaru

Subaru has long been a part of MIAS, thanks to the jaw-dropping precision driving of Russ Swift using Subaru vehicles. In 2024, Subaru revealed special GT editions of its lineup, including the WRX GT, as well as the BRZ STI Edition.

BAIC B80 Wagon

United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) formally launched the BAIC brand at the 2024 MIAS. Among BAIC’s lineup is the formidable B80 wagon. A true luxury SUV, the B80 Wagon packs a 3.0-liter twin-turbo gasoline engine with 280hp and 420Nm.
